Let me tell you about 'Pow' and the time I nearly won a K-Zone competition. In 2001, when I was 12 , I entered a competition in K-Zone magazine about Crazy Bones. Crazy Bones were like these knuckle type collectables that came in different colours and with lots of different characters. K-Zone had a nation wide competition to design your own character with the winner's design being made into and ACTUAL CRAZY BONE. 12 year old me wanted to win so badly. I remember being so excited (and a little confident) to send in my design. I used my good metallic Crayola crayons on it and everything. I got into the top 25 and after that you had to vote for your favourite design on K-Zone's website. You were only allowed to vote once per day with your account. Looking back I guess I could have cheated with multiple Hotmail accounts and log ins, but I had no idea that was possible or even how to do that. I voted every day before school until the poll closed. My friend Monique also voted as much as she could. Not long after I got a letter saying: "Congratulations Lydia you have won... 2nd Place"... 2nd place... so close. At the time I was a little let down, but Monique was so excited that I nearly won that made me realise that 2nd was still a great achievement. For the next issue of K-Zone the top 3 had to enter a photo of themselves and a little background behind their design. Oh man, I was keen to see who beat Pow. .... His name was Ghosty...or something. I was annoyed because I thought Ghosty was LAME. Monique and I both agreed Pow was robbed. Anyway, Pow never got made into a Crazy Bone but I learned a life lesson about doing your best and being proud in coming second place. Still think I was robbed.
