Myotherapy Week is an initiative of the Myotherapy Association to promote the role of Myo’s in the effective treatment, management and prevention of injury and pain. ‘In short Myotherapy helps people in pain to move better, feel better and live their best life’. We do this by utilising a range of techniques like dry needling, hands on massage therapy, joint mobilisation, taping and exercise planning. Myo’s have an completed a further 12 months of training after their Diploma of Remedial Massage and often work closely alongside other allied health care such osteo’s, physio’s, EPs and podiatrists. Remedial massage therapists and myotherapists work in similar ways, however myo’s may employ different techniques and the focus of the treatment will be on identifying the underlying cause of the injury and providing more specific attention to that area. Remedial massage works on relieving muscular tightness, soreness, and stiffness using a hands on approach. Both modalities are holistic and we take into account the whole person, and make sure that each individual is looked after and cared for. It is with both sadness and gratitude that the Myotherapy Association Board announce that after almost five years of service, Anna Yerondais has resigned from her position as Chief Executive Officer at Myotherapy Association Australia. While Anna’s departure is a sad loss for MA we are excited for her to dedicate more time to her young family, her wellbeing and consider the next phase in her exciting career journey. During her time with the organisation as CEO, Anna oversaw significant changes. Under her leadership, our programs grew and the overall profile of myotherapy as trusted healthcare professionals in Australia has been strengthened. It was also under Anna’s leadership that the Myotherapy industry navigated the pandemic and the impacts on our members and their businesses. The Association were pleased to be recognised for their strong advocacy as a nominee in the Association Forum 2021 Awards for the category: Association of the Year. Anna successfully supported the transition of her team to a remote workforce, while supporting the launch of our new member platform, providing members greater engagement with their membership. She assured that the wellbeing of her members, staff, Board and broader myotherapy community was at the forefront of the association support model throughout Covid-19 and beyond. The Association are incredibly grateful to Anna for the energy, vision, and heart that she dedicated to our organisation and the members she served these past four and a half years. We wish her the absolute best in all her future plans and endeavours. We also wish to extend our gratitude to Erin Baker, MA President who will fulfill the interim CEO role as the Board work to find their next suitable CEO candidate.
