My least favourite stitch. I love this embroidery and I really hope to finish it soon but that SATIN STITCH is killing me. Satin and satan are close enough and after stitching this piece I know why. Now dont get me wrong. It is not a hard stitch, and the results it gives are STUNNING. I just find it really frustrating. Especially, because when you take a piece out of the hoop, and the fabric is no longer taut, it messes up the long stitches. Maybe it happens only to me, but it makes me hate this stitch so much. But, maybe this confession will make some of you feel better haha. Basically, we all, no matter how long we embroider or how detailed our embroideries are - we all have that one stitch we hate. Some people hate french knots, some bullion knots, I have a beef with satin stitch. SVK: Ak mám vybrať jeden steh vo vyšívaní ktorý neznášam.. tak je to základný saténový steh. Ak neviete o čo sa jedná, sú to len dlhé stehy kladené vedľa seba a tým vyplnená plocha. Nič extra náročné. Čo na ňom osobne nemám rada je to, že ak výšivku vytiahnete z kruhu a látka už nie je napnutá, dlhé stehy sa nechovajú pekne. Aspoň u mňa nie. A to ma fakt rozčuľuje! Tiež si myslím že po 4 rokoch vyšívania by môj steh mal byť krajší a čistejší. Na druhej strane, nikdy ho nepoužívam a netrénujem pretože ho nemám rada, a za celé tie roky je toto moja prvá výšivka kde oho trošku viac používam, takže neviem čo chcem haha.. Proste to že satén a satan sú blízko seba dáva pri tejto výšivke zmysel. Ale ja sa hecnem a dokončím ju, pretože inak sa mi naozaj páči. Back in the days Eyang and many others preserved clothings or adorned them with embroidery as a way of marking and telling stories… oh I torn this sleeve when I was hurrying to open the door… or this kebaya was burnt when I leaned to pick up the wok… Nowadays garments aren’t so scarce and pricey, stitching or mending is no longer a necessity. I didn’t know I have it in me until Covid arrived. It changed me and many of us. Modern hand embroidery is hard to define. Personally I believe its easier to say what it isnt than what it is. 3D embroidery is, in my opinion, part of modern embroidery - in my case it combines wire work, needle felting and thread painting ❤️ and the result is life like realistic embroidery that sticks out of the canvas ❤️ I will be honest with you! I make these and still I think they are magic and my brain is totally fascinated with them 😂🙈 Anyone else? 😂🙈 SVK: Moderná ručná výšivka sa ťažko definuje.
