📍Patan, Lalitpur - - - Rato Machhindranath Chariot at Pulchowk, Lalitpur. In the past, for 12 years, there was no rainfall, and all the river dried off. To find out the solution to this problem, the King of Bhaktapur kingdom at that time went to Swayambhu to meet Tantrik. Then, the Tantrik said that Guru Gorakhnath is angry, so he is meditating on the cushion of 9 mighty serpents whose duty was to cause rainfall in the valley. Until and unless the serpents will be free, rainfall doesn’t happen in the valley. It is possible only when his teacher Rato Machhindranath visits him. So the king started searching for his teacher. After some time, they find out that Machhindranath was reborn as the 108th son of King Sashi in Assam. Then the king of Bhaktapur, Tantrik from Kathmandu, and a Newar from Lalitpur went to Assam to bring Machhindranath back. They knew that it wouldn’t be easy to get him because he was the son of Daitya. They tried a lot but they were not successful in bringing him back. Then the Tantrik called 4 Bhairab and asked them to bring him back. Bhairab brought him back to Guru Gorakhnath, and he stood quietly seeing his teacher. Finally, the serpents were free then the rain started raining on the valley. Now, the king, Tantrik, and Newar cannot decide how district Machhindranath should be kept, so they went to Lalitpur King to find the solution. Lalitpur King was very clever as he chose to keep RatoMachhindranath on Lalitpur. From that day, every year, people celebrate this festival in Lalitpur and pray for good rainfall. — - Follow @smile.nepal for more - - #snilenepal #nepal #nepalese #nepalesestyle

📍 Boudhanath Stupa, Kathmandu - - - Boudhanath also called Boudha is a stupa in Kathmandu, Nepal. Boudha stupa is semicircle shaped and contains the relics and remains of Buddha. The stupa’s massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in the world. Boudha Stupa was listed in world heritage list by UNESCO in 1979 and it is one of the most popular tourist sites in Kathmandu. The stupa dates from 600AD and was built by a Tibetan king. The stupa is a historical pilgrimage site for all the Buddhists around the world. The stupa was built using many kilograms of gold for decoration. The giant Boudhanath stupa is a gateway to heaven serving as a horizon between the earth and sky. The base of the stupa structure consists of three large platforms decreasing in size. These platforms symbolizes the sky, whereas the circular vase supporting the semi-sphere signifies water. The eyes of Buddha painted on the stupa are diversely described as inscrutable, impassive, empathetic and shrewd. The five most promising elements representing Buddha i.e. earth, air, water, fire and space are comprised in the Stupa architecture. Boudha is an awe-inspiring and spiritual space and also one of the holiest Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Kathmandu, Nepal. During the full moon day, monks are indulged in prayers, singing songs and all Buddhists come to the place as a part of their holy visit. As a daily ritual, many people walk three or more times around the stupa while repeating the mantra ‘Om Mani Padme Hum’ in a “kora”. Prayer flags that are tied to the stupa flutter in the wind, carrying mantras and prayers towards the heaven. Nepal - Kathmandu Boudhanath The atmosphere of the place has a great impact. Arriving at Boudhanath in the late afternoon is like witnessing a spell, with all the pilgrims performing a frenetic dance around the stupa, clockwise, spinning prayer mills to release the holy scriptures. It is a whirlwind of colours and smells, the burgundy red of the monks' robes, the black of the pilgrims' cloaks, the red, yellow and blue of the prayer flags, the incense fumes, the wavering flames of the yak butter candles. #népal #nepalesestyle #visitnepal #nepal #visitnepal #boudhanath #boudha #boudhastupa #boudhanath #buddhism #allnepaltraveller #explorethenepal #amazingnepal #nepaleseculture #kathmanducity #discovercultures #aapmagazine #worldviewmag #allaboutphotocom #documentingourworld #discovercultures
