When shooting newborn lifestyle sessions, I like to say, for first time parents, the session revolves around the baby- for parents of multiples, it ebbs and flows around the siblings. No matter what, the most important part aspect of lifestyle photography is connection- not just between family members, but also with your photographers. My job is to walk away from a session with your kiddos feeling like they just made a new bestie- because that connection with each other, with the lens, is paramount to creating beautifully authentic art together. Today is World Book Day! If you didn’t know, I am a total bookworm. Regardless of where I am, I have a book on hand. It may be in the Kindle or Nook app on my phone, but regardless, there is always one with me for the free moments in life. Bookish Facts About Me: 1. Twilight made me fall in love with reading again back in high school and still remains the only series that can pull me out of a book slump. 2. My bookshelves are OVERFLOWING. There’s just something special about @barnesandnoble Editions and Special Editions of novels. 3. I collect antique novels for use in photography sessions—including vintage children’s books! 4. Such an astounding personality for a little girl! The other day I was lucky enough to get to pick up my granddaughter from preschool. While driving back to her home I asked her how her day was. She paused for a moment and thought about it. With a long, heavy sigh, she said “not good”. I asked her why not? She told me that one of her friends was not being a child of God. I asked her what she meant by that? She told me her friend was not being nice to her friends or to her. We had a sweet discussion the rest of the ride home about choices, allowing others to make choices and forgiveness. Such a wonderful, special experience for us both. She has incredible parents that have taught and modeled kindness, love and respect for others.
