Man on man do I love the newborn stage. Don’t get me wrong one of the most stressful sessions for me are newborns just because I want them to be perfect. I want to capture that sweet essence and newness in a way that brings back so many beautiful feelings of nostalgia for my clients. Where they look through the pictures and remember the butterflies of anxiety in their stomachs when they first held their new baby. The awe and fear and joy and reality that life will never ever be the same in the best way possible. The newborn stage is so fast and fleeting. And before you know it you are chasing them around a park, or teaching them how to drive or watching the graduate from college. So take the pictures. Documents these moments. You won’t regret it. Shooting with the end product in mind is just plain smart. It makes our albums SO much prettier AND helps us as artists to better tell a cohesive, powerful story. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here’s one quick tip for shooting with the album in mind: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Take scene-setting photos of the location! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is the #1 thing that helps fill out the story of a design, but that most photographers neglect to do. We take detail photos of bouquets, place settings, bridal details, but we forget to take detail photos of the location. And this is something EVERY photographer can do regardless of how high-end or detail-heavy the wedding you are shooting is. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Since wedding days are usually a whirlwind of events, one thing that works well for me is to arrive a half hour early to the venue. As I scout for first look and portrait locations, I take my camera with me and take 10-15 scene-setting details that capture the aesthetic of the venue. These can include a wide shot of the building, a sign, close ups of the foliage, architecture, etc. The client picked their venue for a reason, and so it only makes sense to capture a few photos to show off what makes it unique. And these images really come in handy when filling out the story of a wedding day.

Er wordt gekletst, gek gedaan, weggerend, op een bed gesprongen en alle kunstjes die de oudsten kunnen worden getoond. Maar dit is wel zoals het is, zoals het gaat, zoals het misschien wel moet zijn.. ik heb vandaag juist mijn camera aan gehad tijdens het eten van een beschuitje, tijdens m'n wandeling van keuken na woonkamer en heb om mij heen gekeken en zag dat het gezin niet even stilstond wanneer de baby even moest drinken. This is his big week. Next weekend he will fully participate in mass and receive his First Communion. He is a little stressed out but says he loves wafers and can’t wait to taste it. Beach Sessions go on sale this Friday morning at 8am! I have limited dates throughout the summer available for beach sessions. And for the first time in YEARS, I’ll be offering a couple nights of beach minis too! Sessions will take place in OCNJ and surrounding.shore towns. Beach sessions are one of my favorites types of sessions to shoot. I think the location just helps families be a bit more candid and embrace the true playfulness of your kids.
