#Water #Sanitation | The nomadic and denotified tribes (NT-DNTs) in India were falsely labelled ‘criminal’ under the Criminal Tribes Act of 1871 by British colonial rulers. While the act was repealed in 1952, the NT-DNTs continue to be criminalised and discriminated against due to their nomadic and landless status. In spite of making up 10 percent of the country’s population, most of them do not have any land in their name, which prevents them from accessing several social welfare schemes. Public services are usually not planned keeping NT-DNTs in mind. Their needs are different because they are constantly moving. They typically reside in kaccha tent houses or pakka rented rooms and struggle to access basic amenities such as water, sanitation, and electricity. The kaccha tent houses are built on any available piece of land and cannot have toilets inside them, so they have to resort to open defecation or visit paid or communal toilets. Social welfare schemes and public facilities are not planned keeping this population in mind. 'ઘર મળી ગયા પણ તકલીફ કામની હતી.. અમે ભંગાર વીણવાનું કામ કરીએ. રાજકોટાના ગોંડલના ગુંદાળામાં અમને ઘર મળ્યા. કચરો અમે ગોંડલ શહેરમાં વીણીયે. અત્યાર સુધી અમારુ ઝૂંપડું પણ ગોંડલમાં જ હતું એટલે ખભા પર કોથળા લઈને સવારના નીકળી પડીયે. બપોર સુધી ભેગુ થાય એ ભંગાર ખભા પર કોથળામાં લઈને ઝૂંપડે આવીયે. બે ચાર દિવસ આ રીતે ભંગાર ભેગો થાય પછી ભંગારવાળા ભાઈ અમારા છાપરે આવીને સામાન લઈ જાય. પણ તમે અમને પોતાના ઘર ગુંદાળામાં કરી આપ્યા. રાજી તો થવાય. વર્ષોનું અમારા ઘરનું સપનું પુરુ થ્યું. અમે રહેવા આવી ગયા. પણ પછી તકલીફ ભંગાર વીણવાના ધંધાને લઈને થવા માંડી. ગુંદાળાથી ગોંડલ છ સાત કી.મી. થાય. અમે વાહનમાં ખાલી કોથળા સાથે બેસીને ગોંડલ પહોંચી જઈએ. ભંગાર વીણી લઈએ. પણ એ ભંગાર ખભા પર લઈને વસાહતમાં આવવું મુશ્કેલ થઈ જાય. અંતર ઝાઝુ છે એટલે. રીક્ષા કે કોઈ સાધનવાળાને બેસાડવા કહીએ તો એ ભાડુ એટલું માંગે જેટલો અમે ભંગાર ભેગો કર્યો ન હોય... શું કરવું સમજાતું નહોતું. ઘરનું સુખ મળ્યું. પણ ધંધો ન કરીએ તો ખાઈયે શું?. પાછુ ગોંડલમાં છાપરુ વાળવું પણ ગમે નહીં. માંડ માંડ છાપરાંમાંથી મુક્તિ મળી હતી' ગોંડલના ગુંદાળામાં VSSM એ સંસ્થા સાથે સંકળાયેલા સ્વજનોની મદદથી 87 પરિવારોના ઘરો બાંધ્યા. આ ઘરમાં રહેવા આવનાર ગજરાબહેને ભંગારનો ધંધો કરતા 15 પરિવારોની મૂંઝવણ અમારા કાર્યકર છાયાબહેન અને કનુભાઈને કહી. રસ્તો એમને પેડલ રીક્ષા આપવાનો અમે વિચાર્યો. પણ આ પરિવારોની આર્થિક સ્થિતિ અત્યંત ખરાબ. એ પોતે લોન લઈથી પેડલ રીક્ષા ખરીદી શકે નહીં. શું કરવું એ મૂંઝવણ હતી ત્યાં મુંબઈમાં રહેતા અમારા પ્રિયસ્વજન રાજેશભાઈ મહેતાનો ફોન આવ્યો ને એમણે કેટલાક પ્રિયજનો આવા કાર્યમાં મદદ કરવાની ભાવના રાખે છેનું કહ્યું. અમને તો જાણે આ બધુ કુદરતે ગોઠવી આપ્યાનું લાગ્યું.. મુંબઈથી અમને શ્રી જેસલકુમાર ભરતભાઈ શાહ, શ્રી મિલનભાઈ રતિલાલ શાહ, શ્રી તુષારભાઈ મોદી, શ્રી વિનયભાઈ મહેતા, Kaycee Diamonds એ મદદ કરી ને અમે 15 પરિવારોને સાયકલ આપી. રાજેશભાઈ આમાં નિમિત્ત બન્યા... આપ સૌ પ્રિયજનોની મદદથી 15 પરિવારોના જીવને સાતા પહોંચી... ખુબ ખુબ આભાર. . . . #MittalPatel #vssm #workingfornomads #nomadictribes #nomadiclife #વિચરણ #વિચરતીજાતિ

The history of this nomadic tribe is as follows: Initially, the Magyars inhabited the steppes of the Southern Urals in the territory of present-day Bashkortostan. Along with seven other tribes and three allied ethnic Khazar clans who had separated from Khazaria and started calling themselves Kabars, they migrated through the territory of Ukraine to the lands of present-day Hungary (the steppes of the Middle Danube). Later, they adopted the name of one of the Turkic tribes, the Onogurs (Latin: hungarus), which, with some modifications, became established in European languages. The Magyars were skilled horsemen and frequently raided the Holy Roman Empire and the territories of Central Europe, gradually becoming a scourge for Western Christianity. Young Wodaabe women at Gerewol (Tchad) At the end of September, just after the rainy season and before spreading out in small family bands into all four corners of the Sahel, clans of the nomadic Wodaabe tribe gather collectively to celebrate their traditional Gerewol Festival. It is a time to socialize, hold tribal meetings, baptize babies, barter over dowries, or help each other out if needed. But above all, it is an opportunity for the young to meet, date, mate, and marry. The Wodaabe, also called the Mbororo (meaning: those who live in cattle camps), are a small subgroup of the larger Fulani ethnic group living in many parts of West and Central Africa, stretching from Senegal to The Sudan. They are nomadic cattle herders, always on the move in search of greener pastures, and usually not staying longer than a few days in one given place. They are particularly famous for their annual Gerewol Festival — an extravagant display of beauty contests and courtship rituals in which hypnotic chant and dance, and elaborate attire and make-up are the key ingredients for attracting the admiration and affection of potential love mates. Many Wodaabe girls and boys have already been pledged to each other in infancy by their parents, often to cousins, to preserve the traditions to which they fiercely hold on. Among the polygamous Wodaabe it is fairly common to temporarily hook up with someone else, or marry more than once, twice, or even three times. 'રાશનકેડ નીહરે એ માટે કેટલી મેનત કરતા. પણ અમારી પાહે કાગળિયામાં કાંઈક તો ઘટે જ. એટલે કેડ નીહરે જ નહીં. અમે તો પસી પડતું મેલ્યું. જેમની પાહે કેડ હતા એમના કેડમાંય દસ, બાર જણાના નામ હોય. સોકરા તો લગન કરીન્ જુદા રે'તા હોય તોય ઈમના કેડ જુદા ના બને....' અમદાવાદના ઈન્દિરાબ્રીજ પાસે રહેતા સરાણિયા પરિવારોની આ કથની.. વર્ષો પહેલાં આ બધાને મતદારકાર્ડ મળે તે માટે કેમ્પ કરેલો ને ઘણા બધાને એ વખતે મતદારકાર્ડ મળેલા. પછી ઘણો લાંબો સમય સંપર્કમાં નહીં રહેલા. અમે પણ વધારે ફોકસ ગામડાંઓમાં કરીએ એટલે આ વસાહત તરફ ધ્યાન પણ ઝાઝુ ન અપાયું. ત્યાં પાછા આ વસાહતના આગેવાનો હમણાં ઓફીસ પર આવ્યા. એમના પ્રાથમિક પ્રશ્નો પણ ઘણા. 700 થી વધારે પરિવારો અહીંયા રહે.વળી હમણાં વસાહતની વચમાંથી રોડ જાય તે ઘણાના છાપરાં તુટવાના. આવામાં તમે મદદ કરોની ભાવના સાથે સૌ કાર્યાલય પર આવ્યા. સર્વે કર્યો તો રેશનકાર્ડ ઘણા પાસે ન હોવાનું જોયું. સાથે રેશનકાર્ડ વિભાજન ન થયેલાનું પણ જાણ્યું. આખરે અમારા કાર્યકર મધુબહેન અને સૂરજ લાગ્યા બધાના ફોર્મ ભરવા. બેઉ મજાના અને ખુબ મહેનતુ કાર્યકરો. અમદાવાદ જિલ્લા પૂરવઠા વિભાગનો સહયોગ તો જબરજસ્ત. પૂરાવાના પ્રશ્નોને ઉકેલવા એમણે સ્થળ તપાસ કરીને સ્થળ પર જ રેશનકાર્ડ આપવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. અમદાવાદ પૂરવઠા કચેરીમાં કામ કરતા રવિન્દ્રભાઈ સોલંકી અને તેમની ટીમે વસાહતમાં આવીને કામ કર્યું ને ઘણા પરિવારોને રેશનકાર્ડ આપ્યા. ગાંધીનગર પૂરવઠા વિભાગ આદરણીય શ્રી રમેશ મીના, તેમજ જશવંતભાઈ જેગોડાની વંચિતો માટે લાગણી ખુબ રહી માટે આ કાર્ય થઈ શક્યું. આપ સૌનો ઘણો ઘણો આભાર.. #MittalPatel #vssm #RashanCard #nomadictribes #nomadsofindia #nomads

'ફરી આવું ત્યારે વસાહતમાં પાક્કુ આવીશ..' જામનગર કલેક્ટર શ્રીને મળીને અમે કાનાછીકારા જવાના નીકળ્યા ત્યાં રસ્તામાં આવતા જીવાપરના બસસ્ટેશને અમને અમારા પરિવારો મળ્યા. રહેવા પોતાની જગ્યા નથી. સરકારી જમીન પર છાપરાં નાખી રહેની એમની વાતો. કલેક્ટર શ્રી શાહ સાહેબે આ પરિવારોને જામનગર નજીક આવેલા ચેલાગામમાં કાયમી જમીન આપવાની પ્રાથમિક તૈયારી કરી છે. તેમણે વિધીસર દરખાસ્ત અને અન્ય વિગતો તૈયાર કરવાની સૂચના અધિકારીઓને આપી. આવનારા સમયમાં આ બધા પોતાની જગ્યા પર રહેતા થઈ જશે. અમારા કાર્યકર ગુલામભાઈ આ બધાના કાગળિયા તૈયાર કરવામાં લાગ્યા છે. દરેક ગામોમાંથી આવા જરૃરિયાતવાળા પરિવારોને શોધી તેમની તકલીફો સરકાર સુધી પહોંચતી કરવાનું કરીયે તો ક્યારેક તો એમના પ્રશ્નો ઉકલી જશે એ નક્કી.. સલાટ પરિવારની બહેનો શૃંગાર પ્રસાધનો વેચે. તેમાંથી એક બહેને VSSM પાસેથી લોન લઈને પોતાનો ધંધો પણ સરસ આગળ વધાર્યો. તે એને લઈને બીજા બહેનોએ પણ પોતાને લોન આપવા કહ્યું. સાથે પાનસરમાં બંધાઈ રહેલી અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં પણ બાળકોને ભણવા લઈ જજોનું બધાયે કહ્યું. મજાના માયાળુ પરિવારો. આ બધાને અમારી સાથે જોડવામાં મનસુખભાઈ ખુબ સેવાભાવી વ્યક્તિ, એમનો ફાળો પણ મહત્વનો.. બસ ઝટ એમની વસાહતમાં જઈશું ને આ બધા પરિવારો ઝટ પોતાના સરનામાં વાળા થાય તેવા પ્રયત્નો તો કરીશું ને સફળ પણ થઈશું એ નક્કી... #MittalPatel #vssm #jamnagar #ONROAD #nomadictribes #nomads #collectorjamnagar

આભાર ડો. નિતીન સુમંત શાહ - હાર્ટ ફાઉન્ડેશન... આભાર માનવાનું કારણ જબરુ છે. વાત છે 2008ની... એક વસાહતમાંથી અમે દિકરીને હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણવા લઈ આવ્યા એ પછી દિકરીના પિતાનો ફોન આવ્યો. 'ઓ બુન મારી વઉએ હાથમોં ઘાસતેલ લીધું હ્. કેસ ક સોડીન પાસી લાવો નકર મું હળગી મરે. તમારી ભાવના મારુ બૈરુ નઈ હમજઅ. મેરબોની કરીન ભલા થઈન સોડીન પાસી મેલી જો નકર આ હળગી....' વર્ષો પહેલાં વિચરતી જાતિના બાળકોને ભણાવવાની મુહીમ શરૃ કરી. બાળકોને હોસ્ટેલમાં લઈ આવેલી એ વખતે વાલીઓનો આવો વિરોધ. બાળકોને અમે લઈ આવીએ અને વાલીઓ બે દિવસમાં બાળકને પરત લઈ જાય. ભણતર નથી એટલે દશા ખરાબ એ સીધુ સમજાતું હતું. છતાં શિક્ષણ પ્રત્યે મોટાભાગના ઉદાસીન. પણ અમે સ્થિતિ બદલવાનો નિર્ધાર કર્યો. અમારી પોતાની જગ્યા નહોતી અમે ભાડાની તો ક્યાંક કોઈએ વાપરવા આપેલી જગ્યામાં હોસ્ટેલ શરૃ કરીને બાળકોને ભણાવવાની શરૃઆત કરી. ધીમે ધીમે પોતાની જગ્યા જોઈશે નો અહેસાસ થયો. મૂળ તો વારંવાર જગ્યાઓ ખાલી કરવાની થાય. એક બાળક સાથે ઘર કે ગામ બદલવાનું અઘરુ થાય ત્યાં 300 બાળકો સાથે તો કેવું કપરુ? આખરે પોતાની જગ્યા જે ક્યારેય લેવી નહોતી એ લેવાનું નક્કી કર્યું ને પાનસરમાં આદરણીય ચંદ્રકાન્તભાઈ ગોગરીની મદદથી ઘણી મોટી જગ્યા લીધી. આ જગ્યા પર 1000 બાળકોને ભણાવવાના મનોરથ છે. પ્રથમ ફેઝમાં હોસ્ટેલ બાંધી રહ્યા છીએ. ખર્ચ મોટો છે પણ સમાજ પર શ્રદ્ધા છે. ટીપે ટીપે સરોવર ભરાય એમ અનુદાન આવી રહ્યું છે. આપ સૌને પણ આ ભગીરથ કાર્યમાં જોડાવા વિનંતી. સોસીયલ મિડીયાના માધ્યમથી ઘણા સ્વજનો અમે જે કાર્ય કરીએ તેને જુએ.. આપ સૌને પણ આપનાથી થતો ટેકો કરવા વિનંતી. વધુ વિગત માટે 9099936013 પર 10 થી 6માં સંપર્ક કરી શકાય. અથવા 99090-49893 પર Gpay પણ કરી શકાય #MittalPatel #vssm #pansar #gandhinagar #vocationaltraining #vocationaleducation #nomadictribes #શિક્ષણ #શિક્ષણ_સંકૂલ
