This is not a show car! It’s a street car! My son Brise help me bled the clutch and brakes as well as help me install the whole ac system back. My daughter helped me make sure the car started in one shot. My wife @rnevaehb2 helped me paint the car and fund the build. Drove the car yesterday and she’s still as reliable as before I pulled the motor out. Still no problem and no CEL! Only thing new is just a different carbon front lip. For those who know me, I’m always about what’s under the hood. It’s not as pretty as it looks in picture and My time for this car is limited, because fitness and health over cars any day. I try to keep it in the Golden Era, just without the bodykit. There’s still things I need to tidy up. Any of you guys have issues with your door sagging or having a hard time closing your door shut without slamming it and/or pulling it up at the same time as you slam it shut? Well there’s a solution there oem door bushings for the door pins on the hinge is made out of plastic and over time it thins out and eventually that plastic bushing is so thin that it no longer supports the weight of your door causing it to slowly start sagging. It was hard to actually get the pin out still with the door wide open. It was a lot easier to unbolt one hinge at a time and I had to buy a door hinge pin remover tool to remove the pin and replace it. I tried using a punch and a hammer to remove the door hinge pin but it wouldn’t budge at all. So I ordered a tool and it made my life 10x easier to get the pin out and put the pin back in. I found it easier to press the pin out from the top not the bottom. I figured this out the hard way by going thru the bottom not the top bc 3/3 times I pressed out the pin the knurled part of the pin were all installed with the knurled part by the top. FYI our doors are extremely heavy so having a helping hand or a jack or stand before removing one hinge or door. I found it easy to remove one hinge at a time and used a jack to support the door. Lastly I made an appointment to finalize my tune for E-85 by Danny at Unrivaled Tuning along with some new added features to my car. Evolution of a bracket. In the first pic, the part along the top is the bracket that I had on 2point0 to mount the ls7 coils. There are plenty of posts showing it and I don't have all the pieces in front of me right now so I shant include a pic of it assembled. I refer to this original coil bracket as V1, the bottom left is V5, middle is V6, and the right is V7. V2-4 were either ideas I scrapped or failures due to a lack of understanding of the cad software. Fasteners/spacers shown are not final. V1 had a bunch of superfluous design and fitment requirements and they combined to mount the coils as low as possible in the valley above the spark plugs. This made changing the spark plugs a pain and there might have been some interference issues with having the coil output pushed right up against the input of the coil next to it. And I just didn't like the design anymore. So I installed Fusion 360 and spent way to many hours trying to figure out how to get it to do what I wanted. At the end of it, I had V5 and V6. I wasn't sure exactly which style I liked better or which would have the better fitment so I had @sendcutsend cut out a few of each for me. Neither of them fit as I intended so I adjusted the design and sent the file off again. Upon attempting to fit V7, it became apparent that the order of assembly had to be adjusted a bit too. V5 had both coils mounted upright to the top of the valve cover over the exhaust cam, this keeps the coils and wiring as far from any heat generating components as possible but interferes with the turbo outlet. V6 lays the coils down and makes a much better fitment heightwise but now the wiring doesn't clear. V7 spreads the back side of the coils apart to make room for the wiring. The original intention for both V6 and V7 was to sandwich the coils in-between the 2 plates, but with V7 the upper bracket now doesn't clear. So the coils are now on top and there's 10mm spacers between the two plates. So. It's together. It runs. Went thru a lot of little problems including a loose fuse, a bad relay, and a backwards hi-pressure fuel pump. Took the better part of 2 days to figure all this stuff out. Still wouldn't run. Kept having an issue with the keyless start disabling the starter making it even harder and more difficult to check things, an issue the original donor Buick had, but it just made it so much more frustrating. Messed with a few things and hit it with ether. It started. It sounded pissed off. After a few tries and clearing the codes it finally gave a reason for the difficulty in starting. Intake camshaft position not plausible. Exhaust camshaft position not plausible. Despite spending what seemed like an inordinate amount of time verifying the timing during final assembly of the engine, something's not right. It does have compression and it rolled over freely by hand before going in the car so doesn't seem like it would have bent any valves. Now it has to come back apart. In the car. Hopefully can get away with just pulling the valve cover off and doing a cam phaser replacement style re-timing or at least assessing what happened. But that's gonna be for some other time, I have another car that needs more immediate attention and should be quicker to fix. At least 2point0 was able to get itself out of my way for that anyways. Some good news is my coil brackets showed up so I can test fit them sometime this week. This is a pretty good representation of what this car is now. Intake pipe for a cobalt, intercooler kit for a regal, and ls7 coils just in this picture. All stuff that "doesn't fit" my car. Edit: Oh, and it's also a Buick 2.0t in a Cruze. Through the application of creativity, subborness, and blind stupidity, I have repeatedly used parts that people told me wouldn't work. I spend months looking at pictures and reviews and trying to get hold of measurements and wiring diagrams so that by the time I finally buy the part I know it will fit or how it needs to be modified to work how I want. Occasionally I do get surprised that something but I always assume some modification is necessary and I try to make sure it's something I'm capable of or fits the "budget" for that part. Also, the coils are just laying there because I'm waiting for v2 and v3 of my bracket design to be delivered. I say "v2 and v3" but they are complete redesigns that don't have any similarities to the original but they do reuse some of the measurements. I have another part to get made to fit the car but I need a machine shop so that might take a while. As mentioned, diff pin somehow broke and then the small piece went pinballing arroung inside the case and after a short while the remainder of the pin that had slid part way out ate thru the case and the small chunk was ejected into the bell housing and dinged up the pressure plate cover a bit. I did a lot of things to the car and never got around to posting about any of it. Then I went to a couple days of power tour '23 and went thru tail of the dragon on the way back home. Got home just fine and drove it to work the next day. Then it blew up on the way home, but not in a way I expected it to. It had a transmission failure... It ejected the pin for the diff thru the bell housing and puked its' fluid out. I'll have to dig up the pin and get a pic of it as it would seem I don't have one. This was all back in June. I had another vehicle I was working on at the time (will post about after I finish this) so between that and lots of stress from work I didn't get around to pulling #cruzen2point0 apart till the begining of this year. Prior to the mechanical failure I had done the following: built a new exhaust (again) and it's in need of a redesign due to horrible drone. Zzp regal front mount intercooler. And redid the intake again. I had to take the engine out anyways for new rods and pistons that were planned already, so other than the cost of another trans it was mostly work that needed done anyhow. On taking the engine apart I discovered that #2 rod was bent and maybe #4 too, the same rods that were damaged on the engine that blew up last time so it was a good thing I planned the work. Engine is back together and should be back running sometime this week or next.... hopefully. Allright, K24 Porsche 911 update … cat is out of the bag for @rwb_canada @rwb_rauhweltbegriff The countdown has now begun for the RWB installation in June 2024. Also, in the last few months, the car hasn’t progressed like it should so I decided to send the car at @kmpspeedshop to complete and optimize the K24 swap. With the impressive background this shop have, I’m not scared for the quality they will bring to the table. Happy to confirm as well that @exclusivautomotiv will be in charge of the bodywork and paint for the Porsche. Once again, happy to work with Jo for another project considering his crazy skills and attention to details. Can’t wait to see how this vision is gonna turn out.
