It was time to check out of the hotel I was staying at in Atlantic City, New Jersey. I was on the 24th floor, and everyone in the high-rise was trying to check out or in simultaneously. The elevators were in high demand. I brought too much stuff and needed more than one trip. You could hear the huffing and puffing of frustrated people as they pushed the buttons only to see “try again later” on the impressive high-tech control panel before them. The night before, I strategically planned plenty of time to get to the airport and catch my plane calmly. This was an interesting predicament and a great moment to stop and observe my thoughts and how they affected my actions. The Heart Rate increases again as the breath hold finishes and breathing recommences. I’ve been swimming from the shore to the pole using the tow float (as we did during the ocean course warm up). But I haven’t dared swim anywhere else. The depth and the waves were freaking me out 😭 Anyway, today with my flatmate, I swam out to the pole, then all the way to the pole at the other end of the beach, then back to the other end of the beach where the shower is. It was only about 15 min in the deep water, but it was by far my best performance ocean swimming - both in terms of time spent in deep ocean water as well as comfort in the water (no panic, didn’t rely on the tow float). I’m absolutely stoked about it. It has given me an incredible sense of accomplishment. Thanks to you and your team for helping me get to this point! 💪🏾👌🏾👍🏾👊🏾😎 Depending on how the next few weeks go, I might sign up for the Murray Rose Malabar Magic Ocean Swim in Feb”
