There is a direct correlation between breath, thoughts, emotions and brainwaves.  In our normal waking state, we mighr be trained to breathing 5-10s a minute, sometimes any more. And to force ourselves to breathe even slower and more present, kind of feels like it is forced and unnatural.  The breath fuels all sorts of actions. It provides life force for the mental and emotional body as well. And so to truly slow down the breathing, we need to slow down the actions of all our bodies.  If you can train yourself to experience one breath per minute, you would have to exist in a whole different passage of time to be able to remain at that rhythm for any amount of time. You can see how the mind exerts actions, how the emotions exert actions, even the jitters of the body and where they come from. All of this we won't be able to recognize in a normal waking state because it is too subtle to notice or it should be better stated as we are too numb to recognize it. #mentalhealth #meditation # pranayama #hathayoga #breathwork #brainwaves #satori #peaceofmind

Although negativity and toxicity often get a lot of amplification, I want you to hold on to the fact that healthy relationship dynamics still exist😊. However, this is what I want you to know. YOU CANNOT GIVE WHAT YOU DO NOT HAVE. The kind of relationship you desire starts with YOU. It’s vital that you create a healthy relationship with yourself FIRST, which isn’t always easy🥲. This might require you losing yourself for a moment, disappearing, getting really uncomfortable, hurting, crying and leaving your comfort zones. However, these are the prices you pay for the amazing, peaceful and transformative life on the other end of the discomforts🤤. This journey might require intentionally opening yourself to see your self-sabotaging patterns, radical acceptance, taking accountability and intentionally reaching to work on healing your inner wounds and nervous system. This can often be like working to let go of the majority of things our dysregulated nervous system perceived as safe; meaning resistance might happen, so this process requires courage and resilience🥺💪. Lots of you tell me meditation is hard and I get it! We're often told that meditation is about silencing the mind, I find that unhelpful, for most of us it doesn't work that way. We need something to focus on and that's why breathing techniques are a really good way to "settle" (not silence) the mind. As well as allowing us to physically settle too. This is an important message for those of you dealing with challenging people or life situations right now. ⬇️ Last night, I had the privilege of hosting a transformative breathwork workshop titled “Releasing the Weight that You Carry.” 🌬️ In the workshop discussion, some participants described individuals and circumstances that were challenging them or weighing heavily on their emotional well-being. We explored the human tendency to let our thoughts linger on our sources of frustration and despair, which inevitably erodes our sense of self-worth and resilience. 😔 In the workshop, I introduced the concept that when we dwell on these challenging individuals or circumstances, we are essentially choosing to give them our power. Instead of focusing on what we can control and solutions for moving forward, we are putting our attention and energy into the exact thing that is causing our distress! Today I challenge you to look at the people and circumstances you see as holding you down or challenging you. Feeling some pressure on the front of my head tonight, after doing the breathing - skull shine ✨ Kapalabhati and Breath of Fire, two similar and dynamic pranayamas that significantly increases the amount of oxygen in the blood and the brain. Stimulating and detoxifying, they can clear the head and sinuses and fire up the belly — perfect for alleviating springtime allergies and general sluggishness. While the terms Kapalabhati and Breath of Fire are often used interchangeably, they are slightly different. Breath of Fire is prescribed in Kundalini yoga on its own (eventually building up to a 31-minute practice) or as a jetpack to boost many kriyas. Kapalabhati translates to Skull Shining Breath and is practiced with the intention of clearing the cobwebs of the mind — imagine polishing a fogged-up window until you can see through it clearly. In Kapalabhati the exhale is longer and the inhale is passive; essentially it happens on its own. How? 🦋Breath is rapid, rhythmic and continuous. 🦋Inhales and exhales are through the nose. Breath is powered from the navel and the solar plexus through rapid stomach pumps: On the exhale, air is expelled through the nose by pressing the navel back towards the spine. On the inhale, the belly relaxes and the diaphragm flattens down. For Kapalabhati, focus on the exhale; it should be forceful but not forced. The vacuum created by the exhale will naturally lead to an inhale; teachers often call this a passive inhale. In Breath of Fire, work toward producing inhales and exhales of equal length. This breath can be fast and rigorous but the body stays relaxed, especially the face. No wrinkles! As you become more accustomed to them, these pranayamas can be practiced for long periods of time; but start small, one to three minutes 🪄 this is powerful stuff. This mantra is blowing my mind. I heard it from @saralandonlife and @mikedooleytut on a recent channeling course I jumped into, and the repercussions of saying it to myself daily last week were profound. To truly come to a place of self realization and inner peace, realizing that all we have is the present NOW moment, and mastering the ability to fully immerse in it and savor, all the miracles is an art form. ✨🙌✨ Every time I was futurizing my happiness into a “one day when” scenario, I would repeat this mantra and come back to my breath and my body and the textures and colors and all of the sensorium of being alive.
