Life lately: Came home from a weekend with friends in the Methow Valley yesterday. We hit up allll the small businesses this weekend, just in time for Small Business Week! I had been looking forward to this bowl of Pozole from @chef_brambila after the long car ride, and it did not disappoint! He and his wife do Pozole kits a few times a year, including the holiday season, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s the best Pozole I have ever had. The kit comes with all the fixins, and you will have leftovers for days! Wine and views courtesy of @sunmountainlodge Terrible picture, but focaccia and sourdough are courtesy of @boyhowdy.bakehouse - this was taken just a few seconds before it was ripped apart at our spaghetti potluck. There was none leftover, so you tell me if it was good! 😉 Ice cream is always a good idea, especially when you haven’t eaten breakfast. @sheris_sweet_shoppe Found these brats at the Methow Valley Thriftway- they are all made in house, and perfect for grilling. I may have bought in bulk to stock my freezer for grilling season! This bread from @mazamastore - I can’t say enough how delicious it was. We stopped here randomly for gas, and were confused why there were tons of people walking around the place. We thought it was just a gas station. So glad we decided to look inside! It was even better this morning with some salty butter.

The New King 👑 🏔️ Fitzroy was my King of the Mountains- and I’ve missed him terribly. But Blitz - the Baby of the family for so long- has stepped out of the shadows and is stepping up to that Throne. He’s taken over the red dog pack and is busy leaving his paw prints in places I explored for years with Fitzroy. So many of my favorite spots I shared with the Twins - Fitzroy and Hazy - are all new to Blitz. I can see him light up with joy as he climbs up to pose in places that he’s never been before. 💡 April is Internship Awareness Month. In a small town like Tonasket in Okanogan County it can be a struggle for a business to find and retain local talent. One tried and true solution is an internship. A paid internship allows the trainee to gain critical skills and confidence – earning while they learn – and it benefits the business with the potential of gaining an invested, qualified employee. Dale Crandall, owner of North Cascades Law Group, needed someone who could keep up with the demands of his busy firm and who was committed to growth. He was willing to consider an internship for the right candidate. Rebecka was the right candidate. Rebecka came to the Learning Center in Omak looking for resources to complete her high school education, and help finding a career path that could support her family. Her career counselor made the connection to Dale Crandall, who enthusiastically brought Rebecka on in an internship as a receptionist for his firm. Today, Rebecka has successfully earned her high school diploma and has completed her internship with North Cascades Law Group.
