Abbey Arch or Abbey Ruins, is a ruined former watermil on the holy brook a channel of the river Kennet in the county of Berkshire. The ruins are garde II listed. Bukit in the 1100s and decommissioned in the 1960s the site of the mill would have been a bustling bakehouse, dovecote and a brewery all close by. A little upstream from the mill, where the Reading Central Library now stands, would have been the stables. In a sporting first for The Old Bakehouse, we were thrilled to host a visit from 1983 London Marathon winner Mike Gratton. Mike won the third ever London Marathon in 2 hours 9 minutes. Visiting the Jurassic Coast with partner Amy this week, he also clocked a very respectable 28 minutes at the Seaton Park Run. These days Mike runs a coaching business.
