Itโs been a few weeks since weโve done one of our โMeet The Teamโ posts. So here we goโฆ โMy name is Ollie and Iโve been a member of the team for just over a year. I joined the team because I absolutely love being out on the hill and enjoy meeting people, so what better place to do it than out there on the fell? Being from the area, I wanted to put some of my skills and local knowledge to good use in helping people. Along the way, Iโve learned an incredible amount of new skills in nav, rope work and have passed my Casualty Care qualification, so I can help out that little bit more on callouts. ย Iโm not always lugging gear up the fells with the team, sometimes I get to enjoy them with a lighter load, walking, biking, scrambling or running. My spare time not out in the mountains usually consists of doing up cars and travelling around. ย Iโm very proud of being part of Mountain Rescue, devoting the time to help those who are in need, and sometimes in some very exceptional circumstances. The new base designs look very professional, allowing sufficient training areas and facilities to keep our operations slick. Iโm particularly in favour of the new base providing an area to store our medical bags and gases other than the toilet room!โ ************************** We are currently fundraising for a permanent base to replace the two industrial units we rent. Any donations would be appreciated. The team are on standby 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and have been since 1962. We cover an area of approximately 655kmยฒ, are all unpaid volunteers, and as a charity we rely on donations to provide the service we do.
