Every year as I go from winter to summer wardrobe I check elastic on tine Ewa I Walla petticoats … renew if need be .. and to give them new life I cut 6 cm from bottom layer .. I even cut the sleeves off one dress today.. well .. let me rephrase that.. my darling husband cut the sleeves and cut the ends off some petticoats.. he is amazing … and such a support when I don’t feel well a-lot of the time .. and I have visions regardless … he helps me see them through .. today he even brought me daisies and stems of wisteria and chocolate and strawberries and so many smiles and hugs .. For my 365 Ewa I Walla I have the beautiful Christene Aigner ….. look at these wonderful pictures … and with it comes a little story … I always ask Ewa girls how they found Ewa .. and how wearing her clothes changed their lives ….of which since working with Ewa I have encountered many …. This is Christene’s …….… Basically, I’ve always been very romantically inclined. But I’ve never shown it with my clothes. I love nature and my garden, which is why I go to a lot of markets. At one of these markets, I found a sales stand that sold simply wonderful dresses - I was there for a long time and always thought to myself “no, I don’t dare wear that”. That was the first time I had seen dresses from Ewa i Walla. I didn’t buy anything. I saw the sales stand again at the next market and admired the owner. She looked very romantic but also extremely tough. I had a conversation with her and then bought my first Ewa skirt. Since then, I have almost exclusively worn Ewa i Walla. That moment changed my life. I put on my clothes in the morning, look in the mirror and have the feeling “now the day can start”. I’ve had so much positive feedback from women who were all at the same point as me: “I think it’s so beautiful, but I don’t dare”. I then always say “start and it will change you”. When grown women smile at me and say “when I look at you, I think of a fairy” (ok - I’m an old fairy) it makes me smile. With Ewa i Walla I also found my very dearest friend, who I already admired back then and who sold me my first pieces. My dear Sandra Kahlenberg ... So jackpot. …. 🌸🌼🌿 One-on-one time with our eldest granddaughter doesn’t get to happen as often as it used to. We make the most of our time together when it does. We began with a sleepover and a movie. We ended the evening with prayers and two of her favorite books. After breakfast, we went to the credit union to take care of some business. Turns out, it was Kids Week! She walked away with a bag full of fun stuff like sunglasses 🕶️, bubbles 🫧, coloring books and crayons 🖍️. Pencils ✏️, a pencil sharpener, a plastic wheel for slicing Play-Doh, a reusable bag to color on and a few other things. She selected some goodies for her little sister too. 💕 After that, we stopped at Sage Library to get a library card, followed by a stop at Starbucks for a refreshing drink. Averi and I were impressed by the large painting that spanned the entire wall. From there, we went to the park, where we walked along the river, sipping on our beverage, until she spotted the playground 🛝. I observed from the bench as she enjoyed climbing the bars and ropes. We had the playground all to ourselves. It was sunny and peaceful. I planned to take her to the art museum downtown. We were disappointed to see that it was closed on Mondays. She and I decided that we would come back another day. Then it was time to take her home, so that she could experience the solar eclipse with her family. 🌗🌘🌑🌒🌓 The roll of a grandparent is important in a child’s life. We can be a listening ear. We provide comfort, guidance, emotional support, acceptance, love, stability, and wisdom. All of which can positively impact their development. Grandparents can serve as role models, confidants, and friends, providing a source of love and support to help their grandchildren navigate the ups and downs of life with greater ease and confidence. We can introduce them to new life experiences and share stories of our own life experiences. It’s an honor and a complete joy to be blessed with the roll of “Oma”! New accessory! After a lifetime of working in clubs and live music venues, I’ve had tinnitus for a few years. It’s gotten a little worse lately so I decided it was time to have my hearing checked, and at least have a baseline to go off of in the future. Well, turns out (as expected) I have minor hearing loss - one side worse than the other - mosty in the higher frequencies (6-8k) I also learned that hearing loss is a big factor of dementia and memory loss. As we stop hearing certain letters and sounds, our brain just forgets them, and we start mis-hearing conversations or not understanding them at all. Today I left the hearing center with trial hearing aids, individually tuned to the needs of each ear and barely noticeable - both to me as the wearer and others, even with my hair pulled back. Over the next week I’ll make note of what I like and dont like about them, and then go back in for adjustments, and try them out again for another week. They’re designed to only correct the frequencies I’ve lost and let my working ears do their job on the frequencies I still have. Also, I should notice a difference in the tinnitus, (which is my brain trying to make up the sounds I’ve lost), by activating my ability to hear them again. And, they come with a charging case that charges them when I take them out at night to sleep. Gone are the days of clunky earpieces that feedback, squeak, and require special batteries, and hopefully along with that, the stigma that causes anyone to avoid getting them.
