The series follows the adventures of Bob, a general contractor, specialising in masonry, along with his colleague Wendy, various neighbours, and friends, and equipment, and their gang of anthropomorphised work-vehicles, Scoop, Muck, Dizzy, Roley, Lofty and many others. The series ran from 12 April 1999 to 31 December 2011 in the United Kingdom through the CBBC strand and later CBeebies. The series originally used stop-motion from 1999 to 2009, but later used CGI animation starting with the spin-off series Ready, Steady, Build! (2010-2011). The British proprietors of Bob the Builder and Thomas & Friends sold the enterprise in 2011 to US toy-maker Mattel for $680 million. On this day in 2008, @pajanimalstv was first premiered on @universalkids Happy 15th Anniversary!!!! 🎉 Pajanimals is a musical children’s television series produced by the Jim Henson Company and Sixteen South Limited. The show centered around the musical adventures of four young animals preparing for bed. The characters were designed by Jeff Muncy and built by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. Pajanimals, originally a Henson co-production with 4KIDS Entertainment, premiered on November 2, 2008, in the US (on PBS Kids Sprout). The series originally consisted of ten three-minute segments that aired on a rotating basis. The shorts were designed to help comfort preschool viewers with bedtime themes and transitional issues such as separating from mom at the end of the day, healthy routines, sleeping through the night and being comfortable with the lights out. In 2011, an order for new episodes in a half-hour time slot expanded the series to two eleven-minute segments, for a total of 26 broadcast episodes. The episodes debuted in October 2011. Henson and Sprout now co-produced the show with Sixteen South Limited in Northern Ireland. Since the premiere of these episodes, the original shorts have not aired. The series aired on Nick Jr. in its co-producing country, the United Kingdom. The full series focused on issues of more general concern to a young audience, such as nervousness about a dentist’s visit, or learning to share comfortably, but retained a backdrop of bedtime rituals. On this day in 2005, The Goodnight 🌙😴💤 Show was first premiered on PBS Kids Sprout now Universal Kids! Happy belated 18th anniversary!!!!! 🎉 It was designed to help preschoolers get ready for bedtime. The block featured recurring themes based on preschoolers' nightly routines, such as dreams, brushing teeth, and cleaning up before bed. One of Sprout's designers, Ward Jenkins, stated that "Sprout is PBS Kids' answer to Noggin." Noggin did not offer preschool shows in the nighttime hours. The Good Night Show allowed Sprout to capitalize on nighttime programming for preschoolers, setting itself apart from its competitor Noggin. The block aired daily from 6:00 pm to 3:00 am ET. It appeared on Sprout from September 26, 2005 until March 31, 2017. Unlike the channel's other blocks, The Good Night Show was repeated twice over the course of each night. Throughout the block, viewers (referred to as "Sproutlets") were encouraged to participate in host-led games, songs, crafts, and lessons in yoga and sign language. Activities generally revolved around a theme, and took place between animated episodes that related to this theme. These themes included issues of interest to preschool-aged children and their parents, such as imaginary friends, teddy bears, shadows, opposites, or babysitters. Astroblast! created by Bob Kolar for @universalkids The show is co-produced by Scholastic Media, Soup2Nuts and debuted on Sprout on July 12, 2014. It began airing on NBC Kids, the Saturday morning programming block on NBC, on October 4, 2014. It is based on the book series Astroblast! by author and illustrator Bob Kolar. It was the last show produced by Soup2Nuts before their closure on August 7, 2015. In 2021, FilmRise picked up the show for distribution. Currently, the show is available for streaming via the FilmRise and The Roku Channel multimedia platforms in the United States, as well as on the Clan television channel and RTVE Play in Spain. The series is available in 8 languages and has aired in over 20 countries internationally.
