Picked up a set of #PDX2000’s a while back for $500. They seemed alright at first but eventually realized the motors would make an annoying low rumbling sound when you hold a record and let the platter spin. After researching it, I found it was a known issue with early production models of the pdx2000 and there was an old guide on #vinylengine to fix it but I wasn’t able to access it because they no longer allow registration. Eventually found an old forum post that said to remove the D705,D706,D736,D765,D766 diodes and to replace the R709, R739, R769 resistors with 470ohm resistors. I have circled all the parts that need to be removed/swapped on the second pic. After several YouTube soldering crash courses and $20 of supplies, I’m happy to report that the vibration issue is no longer present and the turntable works. Now I just have to the same thing on my other turntable. Anyway, I’m posting this in hopes that it helps someone else with their pdx2000 issues. I’m a total noob at soldering but it only took me about 1 hour to fix the first turntable.

Man I love designing stuff. (Section cut for the front, second photo is the full model.) This looks cool as hell. Open Source Dynamic Balancing Mod that I am designing for #pdx2000 and #pdx3000 turntables. Reminiscent to the SoSharp mods that no longer are available. 3D printable and Full documentation will be available including the math on how the modification works. This stuff shouldnt be a secret. Been printing out pieces to make sure my settings are all right and the parts fit on to the tonearm easily. The hardware I will need to wait to buy since its expensive to buy in bulk. But since I am buying in bulk, I can make parts kits for those that want to build their own. Will sell at cost plus shipping, so stay tuned. Love adding the #vestax flair to the front and keep with the theme but let me know if I should remove for the parts kits. As for the model, it will be up on my printables account when I make sure everything works as intended. A part of the print paint is unnaturally thin. Furthermore, when the platter was removed, the inside was incredibly dusty🤧 I can't imagine what kind of terrible environment it was used in until now💣 Fortunately, there were no problems with the operation of the equipment, and I was once again impressed with the durability of the PDX2000. And the leg whose axis was broken Three out of four could be installed without the washers. Unfortunately one was damaged during installation, so Buy legs with reinforced shafts from a Vestax-approved internet store. ----------------- We are very grateful that we can still procure repair parts for products that are more than 20 years old✨✨ Repost @sound_active_japan These people are indispensable for vintage products to continue to be loved all over the world.
