Pasg Hapus 💛 Happy Easter 🐣 - Part 1. Our little one loves water play, so I wanted to make a water based setup for him over the Easter weekend. This one was super simple: I just chucked 2 different sized sets of eggs into a tub of water with some Pom Poms. Our spatula migrated in from the kitchen, a couple of the bath toys came down from the bathroom, added in some of our ‘tools’ (scoops, bottles, funnel etc) and hey presto 👌🏻 Lots of fun, all day long! K is for Knight 🗡️ K was a hard one for me. I didn’t really have anything in the house for the obvious King, Kangaroo, Koala, Knight… so I was a bit stumped. As I’m trying not to buy anything specifically for 1 letter, I knew I was going to have to be a bit crafty. My husband came up with the idea to make knights armour from cardboard and tin foil, and he made them fit the baby perfectly 👌🏻 #craftpartnerincrime (literally just used a cereal box, a cardboard coat hanger, and kitchen foil). LO has been running around for the last half an hour with it all on, absolute natural - so we’re now convinced he’s a reincarnated knight 🤣 The rest of the board is my attempt at a fairytale scene. E is for Egg🥚 I amused myself with today’s theme - had so many possible ideas, but decided to go with the one that made me smile the most. Today we’ve got scrambled eggs, fried eggs (plush and glitter), boiled eggs (this is a bouncing rubber egg my oldest son picked up years ago), dinosaur eggs (that flip inside out and become plush dinosaurs), nesting eggs, shape sorting eggs, eggs in nests, pasta eggs (that can go into the colourful eggs to make shakers), and an egg garland 🤣 I’m not sure why I find this all so funny … but I do! 🤷🏼♀️🤣 Which one’s your favourite? B is for Bee 🐝 It seems I have a surprising number of bee themed items 🫣 … so this setup was a no-brainer. My husband came up with the idea to use our stepping stones as a beehive; which I loved, so I made a paper door and stuck it with tape. Dinosaur from Pattern Tiles 🦖 Making use of our newest toy - @bigjigstoys Pattern Tiles. They were gifted to us by our local toy library, as they were streamlining stock. Took me a few minutes to assemble (not bad for my first attempt), and a mere 0.0003 seconds to demolish 🤣🫣

The early bird catches the worm 🐛 (and flower arranges 🤣) Last minute setup, whilst baby ate his breakfast. Literally took 2 minutes - I think my storage technique for all my materials is working 👌🏻 🌸 The worms are magnetic so you can fish for them with the rods or the rabbit. 🌺 The pots are silicone so really fantastic for play - I’m going to encourage the LO to put the flowers and worms inside. 🌼 The faux flower’ stems fit perfectly inside the wooden sorting toy, which baby has been enjoying utilising recently (plus it kind of looks like a vase 🤷🏼♀️) ➡️ What would you add to this setup?

Low prep, sensory learning tray. All you need is salt, and for the playdough conditioner and corn starch. I made some winter theme alphabet. 🐾 Pets 🐾 When I say our gorgeous subscription box from @love_teach_play has been played with non-stop since it arrived I really mean it, Arya is obsessed. This morning I set her up a little tray activity and she's been playing for over an hour already. First I set the tray up as a playdough activity where she made pet food, pet beds and blankets for the animals and then we put the playdough away and added water to the bath and fish bowl for her to enjoy some water play washing the pets. 🤎 SCHEMATIC PLAY TRAY 🤎 🫖 teapot posting 🫖 A quick play tray for my toddler today who is really into filling containers and moving things around these days. His current developmental play schemas of enveloping, positioning and transporting are at an all time high, so this play tray kept him busy for a good while! I created this play tray by using the teapot from his playroom ( the inspiration for this game as he keeps filling it every day with random bits and bobs), scoops, added in some wooden checkers, Cheerios, number dice (this was his favourite by far- calling out the numbers and stacking them up on repeat!). There’s never one way to play! . So being an over zealous mummy excited that Evie was separating colours,- I created a colour sorting play tray today. She’s not quite there yet BUT we enjoyed putting all the items in different buckets and stacking them up to make towers before knocking them down. There’s no one way to play and so many benefits for going with the flow. I think it’s even better and more motivating when they create the game themselves!!! . Almost anything can be used as a play tray! . Whilst I adore our tuff tray, the beautiful inspire my play tray and our flisat table - they’re not accessible to everyone! When we went away in the summer I dug in the kitchen found a small washing up bowl (which she climbed into!) and a large baking tray and they worked perfectly!!! . It’s lovely to have a special or fancy dedicated tray but really you can use all sorts of things. It’s what you do with them and to be honest my Evie gets excited by the change up! Pots and pans, Tupperware, Amazon boxes all work really well! So I try to use different items to keep it fun and novel for her. . Mamas tip if you’ve got a box of celebrations or hero’s this Christmas make sure you keep the packet! They’re perfect for play, toy storage or turning into something else!!! We used our inspire tray compartments to create the perfect playdough tinker tray that Arya could pick and choose her autumnal themed resources from and the lid of the tray as the perfect playdough tray base. We are having such a fun week exploring our classroom, catching up with each other, connecting with new friends and enjoying all the joys of kindergarten. It is such an exciting time with big milestones. This week we set up invitations based on information families shared with us the week before school about their child’s interests. With all the construction happening around our little village, it is no surprise that construction and construction vehicles were mentioned many times. This very simple set up has been a huge hit and has given us lots of opportunity to observe so much. Children have been excited to find and show us letters in their name or the first letter of their sibling’s name. They have counted rocks and boulders, stacked boulders and talked about stability and compared the size of the boulders. They have used vocabulary to describe the motion and position of the vehicles and the tasks the vehicles were completing. We have observed all of this in addition to observing how children navigate sharing the space and materials with others, how they engage with others and all the other social aspects of play. Learning through play is powerful! I hope you are all having a wonderful start to the year! I’ll share more of our play invitations from the week over the next few days.
