Thrilled with how this one turned out! Early 1900s iron safe box prop for a short film. 1/2”plywood construction w/ 3d printed latch and rivets. The padlock is sculpted MDF w/ printed loop. The lock can be opened through a set screw on the underside. It’s suppertime... For the last few months, I’ve had the pleasure of making four Audrey II puppets for my old high school’s stage production of “Little Shop of Horrors!” This is Pod Four of Four, the largest Audrey II that we see on stage, including a large open mouth to eat people, large vine hands, and a big pot passthrough. This build was a challenge of nightmarish proportions. From the beginning, I was so excited to make the little ones, and was truly horrified of starting the big ones. As a miniaturist, making big things is exceedingly difficult! So I took a deep breath, made a miraculous amount of mistakes, cut my hands up every which way, and came up with this final build. In an effort to keep the body as lightweight for a child to puppeteer as possible, this puppet is constructed over a wearable harness and is supported by a wood back and an aluminum body frame. In retrospect, this does keep the weight down significantly but is too fragile to be worth all of the repairs. I’d love to take another whack at this one knowing everything I know about what could go wrong with a build like this, but for the time constraints, budget, and the fact that I made this while moving into my tiny Venice apartment, I’m pleased with the final product. Does THIS look inanimate to you?! For the last few months, I’ve had the pleasure of making four Audrey II puppets for my old high school’s stage production of “Little Shop of Horrors!” Audrey II can’t seem to stop growing as she reaches Pod Three of Four. This one was deceptively challenging. There’s a pointed aluminum frame with two grab bars that you put over your torso and use both hands to operate. Additionally, there’s a fun gag with root legs that sprawl out and go crazy. We’ve been having such a fun time with our puppeteer as they experiment with poses with their root extremities. For how bare-bones the build turned out to be, I am so beyond pleased with the end product of this one. For the past few months, I’ve had the pleasure of making four Audrey II puppets for my old high school’s stage production of “Little Shop of Horrors!” Pod Two was easily the most fun and gratifying to build. An extremely straightforward hand puppet structure with a classic faux arm illusion. Seymour couldn’t fit into my tiny PA set gloves, but I think the trick still works with one glove! For the last few months, I’ve had the pleasure of making four Audrey II puppets for my old high school’s stage production of “Little Shop of Horrors” which has been one of my favorite shows for ages. I mean, c’mon, puppets! This is the first version of Audrey II we see, or Pod One of Four. Her puppet requirements are a wilting mechanism of the leaves, and a hand puppet pass through to operate the mouth as she drinks her first drops of blood. It’s a very straightforward foam head (some leftover L400 I had lying around) and a fabric tube stuffed into a tomato can. I believe the entirety of this puppet was found objects in my stash! Project Lead Paul Ward (@wardcommapaul) took a "spin" on this project for Law & Order: SVU for their 25th season, in an episode aptly titled "Carousel". The piece features an 18” turntable with flags attached to custom cut pieces of aluminum, using a high-torque DC gear motor to rotate the mechanism. A speed control unit was attached to the motor on the base, allowing them to speed up, slow down or reverse the direction of the carousel as needed on set. These are for their new full length feature film that's currently in production. Safety was our number one priority while building this spike-filled "Death Box" for Episode 3 of "Generation Loss", a horror web series and alternate reality game created by Ranboo, the famed American YouTuber and Twitch streamer best known for his variety gaming content and collaborations. Episode 3: The Choice racked up over 2 million views! To achieve the gag, project lead Dan Ludlow (@275studios) designed and built a lightweight Dibond box which was filled with soft silicone rubber spikes on each side, painted to look metallic. As the box was closed using hidden pull cords, the spikes gently surrounded Ranboo's head and face, and a spray of fake blood was released. Special shout out to Ryan Gross from our warehouse + shipping departments who was our fearless stand-in/test subject for this project.

Every now and then I get to craft a piece of jewelry for a film I am working on. In this case it was the #sleeperring for spy mom, Nora Torez in #spykidsarmagedon played by the actress Gina Rodriguez hereisgina I was lucky enough to have one of my original ring designs chosen to alter into a type of poison ring, or in this case a sleeper serum with a hidden compartment accessed under the stone. In the film, Nora doesn’t agree with an action her husband is going to take and so puts him to sleep for a bit with a kiss. 💋😴 The stone is a round faceted #moonstone set in sterling silver and then plated with 14k yellow gold. #propfabrication #filmlife #union484 #atxfilm #texasfilm #propmaking #moviejewelry #makingjewelryforfilm

The Kings Mask and the process of sculpting/ creating it. Sometimes when we sculpt something true to the design art we are give it doesn’t have desired effect. In this example I was unsure of the angle of the eye openings. If I sculpted it like design mock up it looked less like a villain, so by angling it down a bit it made it look a bit more menacing. Actor was played by #billymagnussen as the The King or Kingston in #spykidsarmagedon And like always prop casting by Doug Field and paint effects by @thesusassin So Many other people worked on this film to make it a blast. "diamond" encrusted SAUCE pendant and matching hot sauce bottle we made for a fun Buffalo Wild Wings commercial, featuring NFL Player Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner's collaboration on a new flavor, aptly named "Sauce Sauce". Each pendant was first 3D modeled and printed in plastic via our SLA printer, then painted silver and adorned with thousands of tiny rhinestones, in collaboration with the talented Sarah Sparkles (@sarahsparkles218).
