The cook in Noodle Art is too generous with oil in the dishes he whips up. Most of the food we ordered were cloaked with too much oil. The broth in the Red Wine Chicken Mee Sua was one of them and the chicken didn't taste that fresh either. I've ordered Red Wine Mee Sua elsewhere and enjoyed slurping up the soup but Noodle Art's rendition was truly unacceptable so I left the soup untouched. Drinking it would be no different than pouring oil down your throat. The Fried Kolo Mee was another greasy dish while the sauce in the Tomato Fried Koay Teow was terribly sweet. It was hard for my dad to swallow the Tomato koay Teow and broth but somehow, it tasted better with my oily Kolo Mee - the kind that doesn't taste nice and yet, you have to keep shoving it into your month just so you don't waste money. The three-layer teas which are available in regular and pandan variations, are quite sweet, too. While at the restaurant, the lovely smell of fresh croissants being heated up tempted me to order the salted egg croissant. Alas! The gooey filling in the salted egg croissant was so revolting. The yellow goop doesn't come remotely close to the salted egg custard buns I order in dim sum restaurants. I think the plain croissant would have been a better choice. As for the Sarawak Laksa, it's not flavourful at all so you can give this a miss. The only items that were up to snuff were the crispy fried wanton and Fried Pucuk Manis Bihun. Equally oily, but at least the dish comes with lots of 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘪 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘪 which makes it the tastiest dish among the items we ordered. After receiving his enology degree at Université de Bourgogne, Stéphane left Burgundy to work in vineyards in Switzerland, New Zealand, and the United States. Stéphane was immediately captivated by California's Sonoma Coast. In 2002, he accepted a winemaker position at Hyde de Villaine, where he met his wife and partner, Dana Sexton, a UC Davis graduate with a shared passion for low-intervention winemaking, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Stéphane and Dana founded Vivier Wines in 2009, a family owned and operated project where their two children can regularly be found helping out in the vineyards. Our Malaysian friend in Paris made a big steaming pot of Foochow red wine mee sua 🍜with homemade red rice wine from Sitiawan and we were the lucky guests at her house that afternoon. 🤩 It was certainly a treat to have this dish so far away from home and the hot, gingery broth laced with sesame oil and goodness from the chicken, was certainly a tummy warmer and soul-food with the freezing sub-zero temperatures we have been having here in France lately. 🥶 It was in fact @adrcky and my first time having the homemade version ❤️☺️ of this dish and the funniest thing was that it was so far away from home. I can only say the taste was very familiar, and I cannot think of a similar tasting Asian food available here in France.
