Zuibaichi Park 醉白池公园 Officially, Shanghai has 5 Classical Gardens, and this is the first one for #teainplaces. Zuibaichi is a tranquil and lush garden of 5 hectares, dating back from the Song Dynasty. The water element is abundant with many ponds and a stream which flows into a nearby river. There is a blooming spectacle every season: peony in spring (they were massive), lotus in summer, chrysanthemum in autumn and plum in winter. The greenery is what I enjoyed the most. The meticulous design reflects on the harmony between the features of Chinese classical gardens and nature. I visited on a Tuesday, my day off. There were many elders playing board games in gazebos and zigzagging pavements, some were drinking tea from thermos in the park's teahouse, and then just a few visitors like me wandering around and taking pictures. I sat to drink tea in a space full of poems (link to the name of this garden). It was chilly and windy and so I had made the perfect tea choice with this Dong Pian Rou Gui 冬片肉桂 from @myteapal.app February's #myteapalclub, very aromatic and warming. The dark parts, metallicly rich in iron, sparkles. I love the use of the golf ball filter. The tea had a sweetness unique to the charcoal roasting. I love the roasty-toasty-ness of rock teas and the mineral quality. The zesty and spicy notes were fun! 😋 The twisted dry leaves contained a nice blend of whole and broken leaves.
