Tuesday April 23rd, 2024 In Kalamata, Greece. The morning started as any other. Blue skies, boats in the marina rocking gently. As noon approached the energy slowly began to shift; the wind turned and the sky darkened. The winds started to howl coming from the mountains. The sky continued to disappear into a cloud of orange. We were suddenly in a sepia world, winds touching 40 knots in the sheltered marina and the Sahara sands from the south east Sirocco wind blowing everywhere leaving nothing untouched. This lasted the day, and by nightfall the winds stopped howling and the clouds of sand lay suspended over the city. It wasn’t until the next morning when we could see the sky and sun again, that we truly saw how much sand was left behind. Everything, including our boat Grain de Sel, had a thick layer of fine smooth Sahara sand covering every square inch. This was an extraordinary event. And we felt like we were in a post-apocalyptic movie! Sonnenaufgang mit Wüstensand 📸 Blick vom Tempelhofer Feld auf den Sonnenaufgang mit Saharastaub. Über der Baustelle des Estreltowers ist die Sonne rötlich verwaschen und mit Streifen zunächst kaum zu erkennen. Etwas höher zeichnet sich die Sonne kontrastreicher und zunehmend gelber ab und wirkt immer kleiner, während der Himmel viele pastellige Farbnuancen zeigt. Das Bild am Ende, mit der auf einen Punkt reduzierten Sonne über dem Feldpanorama wirkt wie eine apokalyptische Filmphantasie. 🔸Das Tempelhofer Feld ist das Flugfeld des ehemaligen Flughafen Tempelhof. Heute ist das in Neukölln und Tempelhof liegende Gebiet eine sehr große innerstädtische Freifläche, die als allen zugängliches Naherholungsgebiet genutzt wird. That was a crazy day at the beginning of April in Burghausen and at the Berchtesgadener lands. Was climbing to the "Schlafende Hexe" and to the "Steinerne Agnes". That was hard (at least for me) cause the way up was full of unsteady stairs with different heights, roots, fallen leaves, small paths/cliffs and so on. Not trained as I live in a totally flat area 😅. But it was totally worthy. Was so cool to see the snow and the outstanding mountains. Unfortunately the view was a bit blurred cause of the Sahara Sand, but still absolutely amazing. I also saw for the first time ever in my life wild northern bald ibisses. I directly started to cry as it touched me immediately to see such a rare and nearly instinct animal in the wild. And at the end of the day I was for the first time in my life at the almighty Königssee. That was really impressive too 😍. The Ship & The Sand When I was at the #ammersee with my #family I witnessed a #rarephenomenon – yellow water. I guess, it was due to the #saharasand in the air around #munich which ultimately landed in the #lake and turned the #water to #muddy #yellow In this series I tried to combine shots of the famous #utting #ship and this #weird sandy water to give you the most accurate depiction of this #experience As a side note: the last days have been very rainy, snowy and cold, so I wanted some #sun and #warmcolors as a counter movement to share with you.
