Soulsoothing Saturday... Left the beach at 7pm last night. Was back there 6am this morning. Yes i am grateful. We set out just after first light. It was a wild ride. Bumpy. wavy. foamy, washing machine. Current from both sides. We saw the sunrise from Big Bay. So privileged. Been a while. Past bird we turned as we knew back would be hard work. The current messed with us- felt like forever to get past Bird. We swam past a flock of Seagulls floating on the water. Magnificent to see ( My guess they were plotting to take out humans messing up the ocean) Back into Small Bay we did a loop to get to our goal (... 😁) and was hammered by some big waves. Got some water up my nose protecting my car key ( in my float) Rushed to get changed. Drove to Blouberg beach to join the Two Oceans Aquarium Trash Bash. It is revolting how many tiny pieces of plastic there are on the beach. And the cigarette stubs. 🤮 Please just shoot smokers. ( I smoked for 2 years at varsity- it is disgusting) We finally found a shark. Monday swim in the Bay. Foggy and dark until i got to 2.5kms then the sun made a weak appearance. The water still warm enough to swim skins. Out to kamers, back to the Sandbank, out to Bird, some criss cross in Big bay and a circle in Small Bay. Eventful swim- i felt some stingers, a guy swam into me, saw lots of drifting kelp and the best- a bait ball!!! I have never seen one in all my years of swimming. I came home and did a quick drawing.
