Get used to having that wetsuit on and acclimatise for that water which will likely be chilly. My next race is next weekend, so I thought I better book the race for after that 😁 Next weekend is the Snowdonia half marathon. It's not necessarily a race I would have picked on its own, but it's part of the 4 Castle series that I decided to do. After this, training changes to more speed! Today, I booked the Tal-y-Llyn SwimRun. I'm really looking forward to this event and can't wait for swimrun training to commence. I really could do with the lake warming up a tad though! This is going to be my first race where I don't know my surroundings at all! Which is exciting and nerve-wracking all at the same time 📸 A photo from today's waterfall adventure. I couldn't find what I was looking for, but that was mainly due to the high water levels. They meant so much. Losing your only parent is very hard. In all honesty, I dont know how I feel right now. Numb, heartbroken, empty and too sad to even cry anymore. It still doesn't feel quite real yet that he's gone and I can't call him or talk to him or give him a hug. It feels like a bad dream. I also still don't know how I'm going to live without him. I've just been keeping myself busy so I don't have to think about it and then something happens and boom, it hits me all over again like a wrecking ball to the chest. One thing I know is, life maybe pretty shitty for me right now, but my dad would not want me moping around. So this morning I flung myself in the Serpentine to numb my pain and brain for an hour. Generating power in your freestyle stroke doesn't just occur in your hand. To get the most out of each pull that you take, try putting power through your forearm as well as your hand to maximise your propulsion. Using your whole arm in each stroke also means it is less likely your arm is just slipping through the water and not of much use in moving you forwards. #swimwod #getintheswim
🩱A few snaps of the month so far 😂 all, one morning of it! One for those who love being sent into a skirmish mess with the sight of me in the cold river! Water temperature 10 degrees and a nice strong current for a relaxing swoosh, followed by a warm cuppa and a herd of deer in the fields. We also got to watch a swam swim by but didn’t capture that. Now is the perfect time for open water swimming. I started in September with no expectations….I wasn’t sure I would make it past October, let alone all the way through winter. It is definitely something everyone should be doing, so good for the soul. If you want to try it but are nervous, message me. There are loads of groups across the country so you don’t have to do it alone and everyone is super friendly and inclusive. I never swim with the same people, constantly meeting new people and learning so much about how much I can actually overcome.
