Short Swimmers do not rotate and glide, they lunge forward with stable hips. HUH🤔 How's that for pulling out the rug from underneath everything I ever thought about 🏊 technique. Granted, my swimIQ was fairly low. To swim faster, you need to swim harder. Also a perception that got debunked during the last 14 weeks. From my first call with Coach Lucas from @frontpackswim I already knew the training journey ahead was going to be a big ask, but the ink on my arm says #DoItAnyway so we dived in. The access to their WorkPlace community had me hyperventilating when I saw ''WHO'' was actually trained by them (think really fast Pro Triathletes, Ex-Olympians and Paris2024 medal contenders) M.A.J.O.R freak out time, what the hell have I gotten myself into.😱 There was a rabbit hole of course videos to watch every week- fascinating to see how much you actually did not know, that you didn't know about swimming😁. This was a next level 👁-opener! On the training menu: Motor patterns and mobility training every week, 1 Technical Sesh, 1 Speed Sesh ➕️ test swim, 1 Capacity Sesh ➕️ test swim per week and a weekly coaching call. The setting - The plaasdam, a LOT of wind, against a backdrop of beautiful mountains. Alternative setting - Uilenskraalmond Lagoon, with friendly and unfriendly tides Yes, I did miss chlorine and a black line, especially on the test sets. The dam is pretty, but tea coloured (I'm a ☕️🧡ver) I'll get to the pace improvements, but for me the most valuable results/improvements were: ✅️Increased SwimIQ, know the effects of your technique ✅️Kicking is a secret weapon (600m kick set after EVERY swim) ✅️Finally able to breathe on both sides ✅️Proprioception in the water Ok, now for the results 🥳 Week 1 50m 01:01 100m 01:57 400m 08:44 Week 13 50m 0:30 100m 01:30 400m 06:43 So grateful for the most incredible advice and support from Coach Lucas, the other Coaches and the FPS Workplace Community. 🙏 To my incredible hubby who refused to let me swim alone and went with me to every session, filming assessment footage and keeping me caffeinated throughout - YOU ARE ONE OF A KIND🥰

The plants in our pond have been mindfully selected as they play a vital role in keeping the water clean and clear. In late January, an amazing group of volunteers came and helped us do some pond-keeping which included weeding and cutting back the plants in the regeneration area. It looked very smart and tidy after its makeover and we are pleased to share some photos of the regrowth. The plants have rooted and are growing back for the first time in their cycle. It's great to see them settling into the pond environment, and in-time for our first swim retreat for this year! We are super excited to welcome our guests this Friday and showcase the best of the Jurassic Coast. Spaces are filling up on our retreats so make sure you book early. We have released rooms in the Manor Cottage for May and Sept to accommodate more people. Hallo raceweek! 🙌🏼 Dit weekend gaat het Nederlandse triathlonseizoen van start in Brouwersdam en ik ben erbij! Het zeewater is nog steenkoud en ik heb geen rondje openwater gedaan in de voorbereiding, maar ik voel me fit en heb er mega veel zin in! Ik ga niet voor de lange afstand deze keer maar voor de kwart, aangezien twee weken later mijn eerste halve triathlon van het seizoen al op het programma staat. Het plan? Deze week een beetje rustig aan doen en dan zaterdag zo hard mogelijk gaan. Niet te veel nadenken maar kijken wat erin zit in aanloop naar de grotere wedstrijden. Extra leuk, de bus gaat mee om aan het parcours wakker te worden en te blijven voor een heerlijk weekendje Zeeland. 🏝️ Wie mag er ook aan de slag dit weekend?
