✨FARA French Toast Origin Story✨ This dish seems to have boomed in popularity since switching to the awesome @bumphreyandpersello Cornetti loaf, baked in-house. It’s origin story may surprise you. FARA was created with several non-negotiable values in mind; one of the most important being R.E.S.P.E.C.T. • A respect for our incredible team • Respect towards our guests • A respect for all ingredients and their amazing journey from farm to table One way we respect the food on our plate is the elimination of food waste. Simply put, we work hard to ensure that nothing is ever wasted in FARA. As you can imagine, with the fresh-baked daily concept, we would sometimes find ourselves with the occasional leftover Cornetti pastries. As much as the team love a free pastry, we knew there was another route to take. Our head chef @chefdominicbell began recipe testing an idea he had for French toast made with Cornetti pastries – we trialled this on our menu and before you know it, it evolved into a tailor baked “Cornetti Loaf” created by the talented @bumphreyandpersello. ✨ONE VERY SPESH SOMERSET CAFE✨I’ve wanted to visit @pipatthecarriage for ages because you get to eat your meal on a retro double decker bus or a wee train carriage (squueee!🤩🚂) and that kind of fabulousness goes down a treat in our family. What i was not expecting in this cafe-meets-bakery was that the food would be absolutely knock-out (they grow lots of their ingredients at the market garden out back), think delicious sharing plates of mac cheese, alongside creations like Hasselback squash with lentils and Buttermilk fried turkey. Also the cake game is exceptional with s’mores brownies,🍊+ almond sponge and 9-pound-a-pop ginger bread houses with lemon cheesecake, meringues and mini piping bags. In the end we didn’t even sit in the train or bus because we had a dog 🫣 and they are only alowed in the marquee tables next to the bus. But it didnt matter at all as the lunch was so scrumptious. We peeked in the other areas and they looked fab so we will defo be back (maybe sans 🐶 tho). Ooo also next door is @tradingpostfarmshop which is great place to shop for local foodie treats and also has a brilliant pottery selection (like massive beautiful but not crazy price plant pots). lunch with mum at @kyoajisg on tuesday! we got the ebi almond tempura, chawanmushi and tori sashimi gozen. i love the ebi tempura!! so special with almond slices and very crunchy 😍 the chawanmushi is very silky smooth and soft!! the tori sashimi gozen has teriyaki chicken, kani tofu, salmon sashimi, salad, pickles, rice and miso soup 🍱 the kani tofu is nice!! there is century egg sauce on top but the cold tofu is very soft and even has crabstick within!! food here is pricey but food quality is quite good i do not mind coming back ☺️

What a way to savour the arrival of autumn 🍂 This feast at @pennard_hill_farm was seriously special. Wild food and sustainably focused dishes served up amongst the beautiful Somerset countryside. Owners Tom and Pippa are hugely passionate about the abundance of local produce that surrounds them, whether that’s through neighbouring suppliers or food grown and reared on their farm. Every ingredient used has its own story, with wild food taking centre stage. Chef Tom forages from the land and hedgerows to create delicious dishes that celebrate the changing seasons. It was great to learn about ingredients that often get overlooked, and then get to taste them in sensational dishes. Dandelions have taken on a whole new meaning! The stand out for me was the fig leaf Panna Cotta, which hands down is the best one I have ever had! Two specials this weekend at @glastoqueenofcups ❤️ ✨Charred leeks with a warm tahini caeser dressing, foraged chanterelles by chef Will, pickled chanterelles, fermented golden tomatos, yeasted crispy buckwheat, lemongrass & ginger pickled onions, garnished with oregano & borage ✨And a beautiful linguine with a fermented trompetta and preserved lemon sauce, summer chanterelles, Jameed and oregano plus alleppo chilli grown by @usefulbeyondbuildings I love travelling to source the best ingredients for my restaurant- I get my Jameed from the Karak region (Southern Jordanian region) and bring it back in my suitcase 🧳✈️ Jameed from the Karak region is considered to be the best, and only the best for @glastoqueenofcups 😉 For those who are interested in learning more, here’s a little insight behind the process: Jameed (translating to "hardened") is a Beduin food consisting of hard dry laban made from ewe or goats milk. The milk is kept in a fine woven cheesecloth to make a thick yogurt. Salt is added daily to thicken the yogurt even more and the outside of the yogurt-filled cheesecloth is rinsed with water to allow any remaining whey to seep through. After a few days of salting the yogurt, it becomes very dense and can be removed from the cheesecloth and shaped into round balls. It is then set to dry for a few days. Kousa Mahshi - Ayesha Kalaji style 😉 My take includes a rich Ragu of locally sourced goat from @stephens_butchers_glastonbury and anchovy, trompetta squash from @usefulbeyondbuildings, with kataifi pastry and wild za’tar on a white lake Bagborough Brie and pistachio fondue The origin of Mahshi can be traced to Syria, although the exact origin is unknown. Legend has it that ‘Mahashi’ Arabic for ‘stuffed squash’. Some go further in history to claim Mahashi as part of Ancient Greek cuisine. The dispute over the ownership of this delicious all-in-one dish perpetuates. Although very few would dispute the beautiful subtle flavors of ‘kousa Mahshi’ – stuffed squash. Perhaps it is safe to say that Arabs like their vegetables stuffed. It was found in Medieval Arabic cookbooks that Arabs stuffed zucchini, eggplants, carrots, onions, cabbage, grape leaves, potatoes, tomatoes, you name it! A total dream feast in Somerset 🍸🌶️✨ Vibrant dishes bursting with flavour & some of the best cocktails I’ve had, it’s easy to see why @kazbarcocktail has been one of my local favourites for years! It’s wonderfully relaxed, whether your plan is to work your way through their seriously impressive cocktail menu, or tuck into delicious tapas and fusion dishes. Personally, I recommend doing both, and allowing space for a velvety, sweet dessert cocktail too! They’ve recently launched a new menu with the arrival of their new head chef, and of course I had to try it. And honestly, it’s sensational. The stands outs for me were the KFC, Halloumi fries (NEXT LEVEL, forget everything you know about halloumi fries), Panisse and the Vegetable pakoras - they were all seriously special. There’s huge variety, and lots of veggie and vegan options too! 🌶️ Here’s everything we had👇🏼 - Flatbread & dip - Feta stuffed hot peppers - Halloumi fries with dukkah spiced labneh - ‘KFC’ Kazzy fried chicken, pickles and Korean hot sauce - Patatas with aioli and melted manchego - Panisse with sriracha aioli - Fried chicken gyozas with sweet chilli dipping sauce - Vegetable pakoras with mango sweet & sour & chipotle hot sauce As for the cocktails, you absolutely have to get (at least) one!
