Eventful session yesterday, fishing new grounds and old. Love finding spots all on your own, just by going for a drive and checking google Maps. Bite was hot at spot 1 with almost a fish every cast for the first 10 or so casts. Lost half a spool of braid and my favorite discontinued coltsniper jig to a big king when I moved around the corner to the headland 🤦🏽♂️ Railed me and put my braid into a nasty reefy drop off and PING. . I'm Tozzi, a sydney local and owner of @shorejiggingsydney 👋🏾 Back in 2015 I started shore jigging and took a year off work to focus on my studies and fishing every other second I had spare. I was one of very few who really took on shore jigging at the time thanks to a local tackle shop @isofishinglifestyle bringing light to this new style in oz and pretty much selling me on the fairly new concept. Lots of people i knew were skeptical thinking "it was just a fancy metal" and that it's pretty much similar to HSS with jerks in between. But as you probably know, it's way more than just that! I did really well on the craft until life took over in 2018 where I committed all my life to further studies, work and my career. Now that I'm where I want to be, I've slowly come back to the shore jigging game and a lot of you have seen me just fall back into that place I was in before...... Addicted. Passionate and keen to cross new species off my list. I along with my team will deliver content, which will include, raw footage, tutorials, tips and techniques we've all learnt by just putting that time in over the years. Spamming this one because I can!!! DAY 2- A ledge that we were pointed to by a local tackle shop Hoping to sight cast pelagics, went here chasing mackarel and the elusive longtail tuna. Conditions were not great again with a 1.8NE swell with 8 seconds between sets. We found a fairly safe fishable ledge on the northern side of the headland. @kentngn09 was onto tailor right away on the slow pitch jigs while I set up live baits and persisted on bigger lures hoping for that big fish to cruise by. After going quiet, I threw out a 60g glow tiger white slow blatt wide. When it hit the water something very strange happened. It almost felt like my lure got taken by wave and was drifting. But this time it was swimming right at me, reeled in the slack and it was on like Donkey Kong. Fish had me reefed on a bommy within the first 10 seconds of the freight train of a run. After a couple risky yanks after free spooling trying to get it out of the hole it came out! Kent ran to grab a gaff while I continued to have a tug of war on a nearly locked drag. We managed to see colour and realized pretty quickly it was not a tuna like we first had thought. Kent called "its a big silver drummer" and then I pumped a couple more times to have Kent scream out "it's a GT!!!!!!" SHAKING FROM EXCITEMENT I get Kent to take over the rod so I could grab that leader. . After a couple nice sets that helped me wash up this horse onto a higher ledge we safetly managed to LAND IT. This fish is not a common catch in these areas and on this style. It wasn't the mackarel I was after but this surprise is one I'm not complaining about. Trophy fish will be forever in my memories!!! What an amazing day.
