Notre-Dame de Paris restoration project receives PEFC certification âŞď¸đł On Wednesday, the Institut Technologique FCBA, along with @PEFC_fr, awarded PEFC project certification to the contracting authority for the restoration project. The fire in April 2019 destroyed the medieval frames of the nave and choir, built in the 13th century, and elements added in the 19th century. đĽ They were rebuilt identically, using the same techniques and materials as the original: solid oak. By rebuilding Notre-Dame de Paris' roof structure in wood, the shared history of the cathedral and French forests will continue to be written for centuries to come. PEFC project certification verifies the use of PEFC-certified timber in the project, as well as the responsibility of the work done along the supply chain. They are unusually dark, with the trademark cream sapwood. Measuring 2400 x 1000, it will easily sit 8-10 guests. The resin river was a combination of Stormy Blue and Black Pearl mica powder, and definitely one of my favourite combinations đ Huge thanks to Adam and the team from AIM Timber (Australian Hardwood Co), for sourcing these amazing slabs. Using our very own Oakfield Clear Deep Pour, and mica powders, the resin cured perfectly and is 100% certified Australian Made. Finished in the natural non toxic Kustom Grit, it is beautified and protected. Aussie made of course đŚđş. Fencing focus as we are nearly at finishing stage of this element of the garden. The bespoke boundary fence has a frame made of Corten steel for longevity, designed by Mike and made in collaboration with @weatheritltd. It has been made in clever sections for ease of transportation and speed of installation, and features integral habitat areas in the form of bird boxes and a hedgehog hole. There are also gaps within the timbers, allowing for insects and to encourage biodiversity. Douglas Fir offcuts from @east_bros_timber_ltd are fixed into a staggered contemporary design. It is a timber well known for its excellent natural durability, resistance to rot and decay, and being left to weather naturally it will require no preservation as it will last more than 20 years. The timber setts are secured to sustainably produced moisture resistant timber panels, MEDITE Tricoya Extreme (MTX) from @meditesmartply. This product has outstanding durability and dimensional stability which allows it to be used in applications once limited to concrete and plastics. The treatment process involves a chemical modification that comes from acetic acid (which is vinegar when in dilute form). The client's vision and expectations focused on improving the existing home's functionality and the quality of the spaces within. The materials specified required a level of sophistication whilst still being able to resist the impacts of a young, active family. Our sales team recently had the pleasure of visiting a project we were deeply involved in with Timberworks. We're thrilled to introduce Mill Creek City Hall, located in Utah, which we toured yesterday alongside @WoodWorks . We're proud to have provided our V2.7 - 5 Ply Alt - 5 1/2" thick and E21M1 panels with a Douglas Fir face grade for the roof systems of this exceptional project. This marked one of our initial ventures with these thinner 5 ply panels, contributing to weight and cost savings while maintaining the desired aesthetic. On the 6th floor, the event space boasts seating for 175 guests and is accessible for public rentals. These jambs will be painted, but we were able to get a few snaps during the manufacturing process to show you some typical characteristics of a back-sawn cut. Pretty striking, eh?
