Today, we mark the successful completion of this project, where the homeowner had limited access to the front stairs of their home due to the sloped lawn. We replaced the dilapidated retaining wall and upgraded the plantings. We mentioned previously asking our clients if their garden brings them joy, but of course that joy is about the whole family. Whilst this 10ft deep Beech hedge is a challenge to trim, in discussing the hedge with our client we realised the huge depth of the hedge meant there was plenty of space inside for a hideout for our client’s children. Let’s face it, they would climb into it if there was a door there or not! This was not our handy clipping work though. Our client set about carefully clipping the hedge to create this wonderful mouse hole like entrance. Miniature roses and climbing roses are beginning to take off this week. I’ve had such immense joy sharing photos of the flowers in the garden that I’ve neglected to mention Hubby and I are also getting our vegetables planted and doing maintenance on our acreage. As part of their celebration of Earth Day last week, grade 8 students at Carrington school took part in a campus beautification project. On Friday, April 26, the students planted spring flowers in patio pots on school grounds. For many, it was the first time they had handled plants, planted flowers, and put their hands in some soil! The students emerged proud of their design and their work with the flowers! The patio pots are beautiful and are a colorful addition to the welcoming environment of our school. We want to thank @homedepot of Waterbury for its generous donation of soil, flowers and patio pots.
