TAILS UP FOR QUINN WHO BEEN ADOPTED!!! One of our fosters & volunteers met Quinn when he came to a small gathering at my home. A couple days later he returned to “foster” her. She went through so much. Deliberately being seriously injured, unable to walk, a countless vet visits & a very slow recovery. Improving and then being hit with Pyometra & a hernia that required multiple surgeries. Well, This weekend, he & we made it OFFICIAL & he became her forever dad!!! I have to admit I love her so much and seriously wanted to keep her…. The owner opted to keep mom & dad (we always ask for mom & dad, not just the pups) . We agreed to take the pups and arranged for mom & dad to be spayed/neutered & updated on vaccines which the family agreed to. None of these pups will reproduce & this was mom & dads only ooppsss litter. Missing is Pumpkin (Red Collar) whose dad is not on Facebook. It’s with a heavy heart that we share this post. Mr. Coco Burns passed away yesterday in the loving arms of his mom, Mary Beth. Mr. Burns was a super senior when we took him into care three years ago. Luckily for him, His foster became his adopter & forever mom. Featured is his adoption announcement photo in which I still can’t tell who has a bigger smile. This is one of my favorite adoption photos to this day. We are sorry for your loss but also know Mr. Burns had a great three years with you, likely knowing more comfort & love than he ever had his first 15 years of life before coming to us & you! PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST FULLY BEFORE COMMENTING. QUINN HAS BEEN DOG-NAPPED!!! On MY birthday a small group of friends visited and had the opportunity to meet QUEEN QUINN IN PERSON! Well the very next day I come home from work to find my friend who is like a brother and who fosters with us gathering rescue supplies (that’s a common occurrence around here) BUT THEN HE GRABBED the Tee-Pee, QUINNS TEE-PEE!!! I’m like what are you doing??? He says, I think I’ve fallen in LOVE with her, I’m gonna foster her & see how she does with my pack of Chi’s. Oh! Um ok! SOO… Two Days Later he calls me and says; I’m worried when I’m at work all day she’s not using the pee pad that’s out for her. Yea, that’s for emergencies only this girl is actually housebroken. I told you, she’s PERFECT!!! He says she’s getting along well with my pack, I say um, yea because she’s PERFECT! How anyone could intentionally hurt this lil girl we will NEVER understand! In the midst of this, this fosters senior Chi, Lucy passes away…. We are so sorry for his loss of Lucy but she had a great & full life with him. Years ago she was my foster, one I thought would be here forever because she was a lil bitey around strangers. She loved him & myself & barely tolerated ANYONE ELSE, but in our eyes she was PERFECT! Not Queen Quinn perfect but Lucy had our love & hearts for sure! I say this to let everyone know that QUEEN QUINN Is doing well and is currently in “foster care”. HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY to OUR 11 LAB PUPPIES (well today & Friday). Our FIRST EVER LITTERS BORN IN RESCUE!!! Exactly two years ago today I was getting ready for bed & hear a frenzied bang on my bedroom window. It was the neighbor, they just got home & one of the two labs they were fostering that we took into rescue just 48 hours earlier was in active labor, had given birth to her first puppy and mom, Franny who was just a puppy herself was freaking out!!! I’ll spare you the details but just know all 6 puppies survived, one I had to do CPR on & all had to be bottle fed at first! Two days later, Dixie the other lab we took, gave birth to 5 puppies. We made both moms, Franny and Dixie a promise that they would NEVER have to be pregnant or mothers again. We are happy to report that EVERYONE is thriving! BOTH moms were adopted AND their human parents foster with us!! The puppy adopters keep in contact too! All these pups are between 75-100lbs.! We named them after the outlander show & Dixie had the Celtic litter tho most changed their names. Here they are in all their glory. You may follow some of these pups! Otis (O) our now tri-pod boy, Quinn our girl who is recovering from hernia surgery # 2 & a dental & Buggy (LadyBug) our 2lb. lil lady who had deformed, joints, feet & knees causing her to walk like a Bug. ADOPT ME MAE-MAE!!! Meet Mae a 1 year old Frenchie Mix who weighs about 25 lbs. & is seeking her forever home. Shes currently in foster care in Wrightstown, NJ & APPROVED APPLICANTS will be scheduled to meet in the area. MAE is full of puppy antics & will need continued work on basic obedience & some training. Her foster family reports that MAE is a medium energy BULLDOZER, who walks well on a leash & LOVES PEOPLE!! Her worst habit is greeting everyone, by jumping on people out of excitement, which we are working on. She calms down quickly, loves walks, loves car rides & loves people! Shes housebroken, crate trained & lives for a good bully stick. She has been in quarantine for upper respiratory which she just finished medication for so she hasn’t interacted with other dogs while in rescue. She’s done some at distance meets which she was interested in interacting but her body & tail were on alert so at this time we are seeking an adoptive home for her without other dogs (or cats). A home in which she is the only pet is her best fit right now while we work on exposure to other pets. Approved Applicants who have a fenced yard and no other pets will be given preference when scheduling meets for Mae, but a fence is not required just an added bonus. Mae loves kids too but she will jump on & run into younger children so please consider this before applying. Shes truly a lil BULLDOZER!!! The Quinn Saga Continues….. We have had a VERY LONG WEEK….. TODAY QUINN had what we HOPE IS HER FINAL SURGERY. She had her hernia repair # 2 AND A DENTAL TODAY! She had a loose & cracked back tooth which likely happened due to the impact of being slammed onto a hard surface due to abuse before coming into rescue. She was fortunate not to lose more teeth. We’re happy to report that she is back at her foster home, seems to be doing well and even had a lil dinner tonight! She wanted more but she has to wait to resume her normal feedings until tomorrow, you know anesthesia & all. For now, she’s resting comfortable in her favorite bed, her tee-pee hut! Look at Quinn’s dance moves…. She even tries to get up on the coffee table!!! We’re so happy to report she’s feeling better! This Friday Quinn will have a return vet visit for a re-check on her neck, spine, skull, hernia, teeth & both back legs. If all goes well (we expect it to) she will have hernia surgery repair #2 and if time allows, a dental as well. For those just getting to know Quinn, she is our rescue gal who was Abused during a Domestic incident in which the police responded & immediately contacted animal control for emergency assistance for Quinn. She was held over her abusers head & Spiked like a football head first, forcefully by her assailant onto a concrete/hard floor. She immediately started shaking, convulsing & couldn’t stand or walk. X-Rays revealed a fracture at her neck & spine injury. She spent well over a week hospitalized & must have overheard the staff talking about the likely need to euthanize her! Well one of the vet techs saw a twinkle in her eye & offered her some of her lunch. We’ve also learned people food is Quinn’s weakness….. after DAYS of not eating or moving that tech & her lunch motivated Quinn to try and stand! I mean she fell, BUT IT WAS ENOUGH, to see our sweetheart was making slow progress. We want to meet this tech so we & Quinn can thank her! Once stable enough to be released we ran over & scooped her up!! Quite literally because she wasn’t really walking on her own yet but was trying to stand on three of her four legs…. We continued crate rest, standing sessions & short walks. She took a cocktail of pain medication, steroids & anti-inflammatory medication in her food of choice, meatballs! JUST LOOK AT HER NOW!!! X-Rays revealed a fracture at her neck & spine injury. She spent a week hospitalized & must have overheard the staff talking about the likely need to euthanize her! Well one of the vet techs saw her will to live & offered her some of her lunch. We’ve learned people food is Quinn’s weakness….. after DAYS of not eating or moving that tech & her lunch motivated Quinn to try and stand! I mean she fell, BUT IT WAS ENOUGH, to see our sweetheart was making slow progress. (If you are or know this vet tech, contact us! We would love for Quinn to have a reunion with this caring tech) Once stable enough to be released we ran over & scooped her up!! Quite literally because she wasn’t really walking on her own yet but was trying to stand on three of her four legs…. We continued crate rest, standing sessions & short walks. I feel like we use EVERY & ANY holiday as an excuse to Rescue a New Dog & Welcome them into Rescue. I’ve made a new “LOVE CONNECTION” with Mae Mae. She JUST ARRIVED, and is on Decompression Protocol but here’s what we know/think so far…. She Sweet, Loves People, Seems Housebroken & Has been a ROCK STAR in her Crate!!! She has the cutest lil Bark to Boot. She’s just a year old, about 25 lbs. & still in her puppy phase. Mae Mae needs to gain some weight, learn some leash manners, learn to Not Jump on people when greeting, learn etiquette meeting new Dogs & will need a once over by our Vet. Her coat is Dull, she has some hair loss & being a mostly white Frenchie Mix she will likely NEED some allergy testing intervention which includes allergy medications like Apoquel or Cytopoint which isn’t cheap. Over the next couple weeks we will let her decompress before we start introductions with other dogs & work on correcting some Behaviors. It’s $5.00 Friday, & this one is dedicated to QUINN Our sweet Chi that was spiked like a football & is still healing from her neck fracture & neurological damage. Quinn was recovering slowly & making progress until THIS WEEK. She had a setback with moving, walking was shaking in pain & was lethargic. Her gums were pale & her hernia looked like it grew over 48 hours. We opted to run her to the vet for a check up. THANK-GOD WE DID! Her hernia WAS larger & her assessment revealed she was likely in pain not only in her head & neck but HER LADY BITS TOO….She had the beginning stages of Pyometra AND her hernia swelled because part of her Uterus WAS INSIDE the Hernia!! So as the infection started filling her uterus it enlarged her hernia too!!! This POOR GIRL WHO HAS BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH ALREADY HAD TO HAVE EMERGENCY LIFE SAVING SURGERY TOO!!! MEET QUINN! and all 6 pounds of her fragile little body which is in need of continued medical treatments for the next few months. We are making a PLEA for DONATIONS to help cover veterinarian care for this little angel. Quinn was taken from a cruelty case after she suffered severe blunt force head trauma, she was abused and spiked like a football in an end zone onto a hard floor! Shes suffered severed neurological issues and has a spine fracture at C-1 & C-2 vertebrae. Luckily, after being hospitalized for a couple weeks, she started showing slight improvement; was trying to stand and showed interest in people food. She’s made enough progress to stand & even walk a bit, like a drunk person after an all night bender, but she’s making slow progress. Shes got a follow-up later this week to check her progress. She will likely need continued pain, medicine, anti-inflammatory & steroids the next few weeks, lots of crate rest & is learning to walk again. As if this wasn’t enough she has a mammary tumor or hernia the size of a golf ball and two bum back legs with severe luxating patella that will need surgical attention in the future. She is shy at first, but once she warms up to you, her funny and goofy personality shines through. Gemma's unique blend of sweetness, intelligence, and humor make her an ideal companion for a patient person willing to give her the time & space she needs to decompress & learn the routine in her new home. She's just waiting for the right person to trust so she can share her love and zest for life. Gemma arrived to Tails Up Paws Down Rescue as a feral dog who was petrified of people and other dogs. She has learned a lot while with Tails Up Paws Down Rescue. She can now trust humans with time, is social with other dogs & has even made a friend named Foxy Brown who she loves playing with. (Foxy Adopt Me Post will be coming soon). She is crate trained, goes outside to potty (if you carry her out) and also uses pee-pads. She would benefit from learning to walk on a leash & basic commands training. We feel that Gemma’s Ideal Adoptive Home will have a fenced yard, at least one other dog she can learn the routine in her new home and a friend that she can play with. Due to her hesitance in meeting new people, a quieter home would best meet her needs, a home with no children or teenage children. Gemma came to us as a feral dog in horrible condition. She was underweight, her coat oily, overgrown nails curling into her paws & hair matted so badly it restricted her movement. Her initial hospital stay with observation and testing that revealed she has a low thyroid, is on Thyrozine Gemma has made huge strides with us and is current on vaccines, is microchipped, HW free. HI from hospice dog, CHIP living his BEST LIFE! We have been slow on updating you on Chip & his Bucket List! Some know his story, others may not. We took Chip into rescue knowing he has a bad ticker, but our vet confirmed that his Heart Murmur is a 6/6, the worst you can have! (We were secretly hoping the vet from #burlingtoncountyanimalshelter was wrong). His heart murmur really is that BAD. A puppy on hospice??? YES!! Simply holding him, you can FEEL his it, his heart doesn’t beat but sloshes……. He cannot be under anesthesia or have surgery meaning he can’t be neutered. So we opted to give him the best life we could for the time he has left & created CHIPS BUCKET LIST! He’s done so much already but this was an EPIC weekend! He spent the weekend with friends & had a BLAST! He Went shopping, for a nature walk (& carry) bike ride, met extended family, had a birthday paw-ty, played board games & had fun with fellow dogs in a pile of toys & fell in love with a fuzzy cuddler bed which he now takes with him on all his weekend getaways. He’s now got several moms & dads, tons of cousins & friends too. This Boy is truly living his BEST LIFE & we will keep crossing items off his Bucket list for as long as he is with us! Tails Up Paws Down Rescue #tailsuppawsdownrescue This is one of the retiring puppy mill moms we took yesterday (in addition to 5 of her friends, 6 in total) & she has been named Sophie-Jade. She’s super sweet, but scared & has no idea that soon enough, she will be living her best life, a life of love, cuddles warmth & freedom. She will experience some growing pains over the next couple months learning to wear a collar, being walked on a leash, pottying outside, using Pee-pads inside & learning what a warm/loving home is. In the last 48 hours she’s been vaccinated, had two vet exams has been de-wormed heart-worm tested & poked & prodded. She desperately needs a bath but we’re waiting a few days for that. This lil lady is on her way to a better life! ADOPT ME ASHER!! Tails Up Paws Down Rescue #tailsuppawsdownrescue Meet Puppy, ASHER (ASH), a 5 month old, male, mini-Poodle-Fox Terrier Mix with the most unique coat I’ve ever seen. Asher weighs about 12 lbs. & will likely weigh about 20 lbs. fully grown. Ash is being fostered in Vineland, NJ. Ash is a sweet puppy who is really smart, & very treat motivated. He’s little cuddle bug too and enjoys sleeping in bed with his foster family & also loves being on your lap whenever possible. He enjoys running around in the fenced yard with his foster brother & is learning to walk on a leash. He loves people, kids (toddlers included) & other dogs too, he doesn’t seem to mind cats either! He’s a sweet, friendly, happy go lucky puppy, & all around fun guy!! He’s doing well with crate training, leash walking & with housebreaking too but is still a puppy & his adopter should plan on continuing these trainings after adoption. He would do well with almost any type family, including families with children so long as they can provide exercise, interaction, & play time. He’s doing better with potty training and doesn’t mind his crate for a few hours during the day when your not home. Asher is fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered de-wormed & is current on flea/tick & heart-worm medication. Ch-Lois is being fostered in Millville, NJ, in Cumberland County. She will use Pee-pads when indoors but will also go outside to potty when your home & doesn’t seem to mind a crate. With her person is where Ch-Lois wants to be!! She loves cuddling in bed under a warm blanket. She lives for leash walks & car rides too! EVERY time her foster leaves she has to make sure Ch-Lois hasn’t snuck out of the house to try & go with her. She’s definitely used to spending most of her time with the person in her life & expects that anywhere you go, she will be going too! Ch-Lois gets along well with other dogs her size & we expect she would be okay with cats too. She loves playing with soft plush toys that squeak as well. She’s sweet, shy at first & well behaved too. She is fully vaccinated, microchipped, heart-worm negative, spayed & looking for her forever home! We think she would be fine as an only dog or could live in a home with other small dogs. if you have children they should be over 10 since she is shy at first & needs a little patience to warm up. Pippin is being fostered in Millville, NJ, in Cumberland County. She initially came into rescue with her partner, Phillip, a Corgi mix who we learned had cancer that spread through his body. He was able to live his life out in hospice care with Pippin by his side 💔. After losing her friend she gravitated to the other dogs in the home & her adoptive home should have at least one other small dog as a companion. She’s housebroken when kept on a schedule & doesn’t seem to mind a crate. She loves playing with soft plush toys that squeak & really likes spending time outside too! She’s such a sweet girl!! She gets along well with dogs of all sizes, but prefers to play with smaller dogs. We aren’t sure about cats but think she would be fine with them. She loves to snuggle on the couch with her person & will even snuggle with another small dog if your busy doing other things. She is crate trained and housebroken too!!! She’s the perfect little companion! She was recently spayed and had a dental cleaning. This lil love bug is fully vetted, vaccinated, microchipped, is spayed & even had a dental cleaning sp she can now put her best paw forward while seeking her forever home.
