At Mayo Clinic, I’m usually wandering the halls of Neurology, but on Saturday, I skipped over to St. Mary’s peds ✨ To get the kiddos out of their rooms, we played carnival games 🎈The Royalty Carnival was a hit all thanks to a mom who recognized a need for joy after spending time there caring for her own son. After, a few of us had the privilege to visit kiddos’ rooms in cardiology 🩵 each of them had a tremendous story & fight in them. One of the the moms explained that her 19-month old was “learning how to walk on life support” because she needed a heart transplant. One of the greatest gifts the @MissAmericasScholarship has given me is the ability to chase my educational dreams ✨📚👑 Did you know the @MissAmerica Opportunity is the worlds largest provider of scholarships for women? You better believe it!! As a titleholder, I love to share my story with anyone that I can. Hoping to provide them with hope for their own journey. Part of my story includes the fact I was NOT able to attend college right after high school. I moved out at the age of 18 and didn’t have the financial means to afford to continue my education and become a nurse (my dream). So, instead I went into the workforce and started competing in the @MissAmerica Opportunity at 22 years old. My dream of going back to school and achieving my dream of becoming a nurse was now POSSIBLE. I am now a student at Rasmussen University Mankato’s School of Nursing and pursuing my degree with the hopes of obtaining my doctorate to become a Certified Nurse Practitioner! I knew early on that financing my college education would be on my shoulders, so I started hustling hard for scholarships as early as middle school. My favorite arena of competition? I’m going to go against the grain here and tell you about my love for Onstage Question! You probably expected talent, but let me tell you why OSQ holds a special place in my heart.🎤🤍 First off, it’s not every day I get a microphone and the chance to share my thoughts and passions with an audience that’s really listening. Plus, after years of dealing with unpredictable and often hilarious questions from kids, I’m no stranger to thinking on my feet!😅 But what truly sets Onstage Question apart for me is the spontaneity. While practice certainly helps, there’s something exciting (and vulnerable) in the unexpected and showcasing the real, unrehearsed me. It’s a window to the type of titleholder someone is and how they would represent an organization.✨✨ For me, authenticity is a pillar in the work I do as a titleholder. OSQ gives me the chance to show the audience that I am exactly who I say I am. Let’s talk about ✨TALENT✨ Genuinely, this is my favorite area of competition because it truly allows contestants the freedom to whole-heartedly express all of themselves. It’s no secret that theatre is my second home, and I’m confident it’s no surprise that I’ve decided to perform a musical theatre selection as my talent this year. While I’m not revealing what song I’ve selected just yet, I will share that I’m excited to pour my heart and soul into this performance - just like I’ve done with countless others. It hasn’t even been a week and I’m still over the moon after Miss Minnesota Orientation Day! It was an absolute dream come true to reconnect with the #MissMinnesotaClassof2024 and share in the joy as we discussed the upcoming week in June. There were tons of smiles, laughter, and endless hugs. And, of course, impromptu photo shoots. One of my greatest adventures has been meeting my “Northern Light”, the little sister I never had✨👑🩷 Growing up, I idolized this organization from my childhood living room. Dreaming of being apart of this organization but never believing I could. In 2012, the @MissMNOrg added the Northern Lights Little Sister Program. Allowing young girls, age 5-12, to be apart of this community of empowering young girls and women to be the leaders of tomorrow. The @MissAmericasLittleSisters program is giving young girls the opportunity that myself and many others dreamed of having at this young age. And you know what? YOUR little one can have that same life changing experience while being paired with a @MissAmericaMN or @MissAmericasTeenMN contestant to mentor them along the way. My Northern Light is Holly! Days after winning my local title of Miss Waseca County Sleigh & Cutter in January, I flew down to Florida, where I had the best time making it to Adel, Georgia, to have my photos done by @carlosvelezstudios and hair/makeup by @alileeglam 💄 I am beyond grateful for the people I have met while competing and every individual who has endlessly supported me - this journey is not just my own, but ours. Rhomp & Rhyme Storytime 📖 This week, I was a special guest at the Waseca Le Sueur Library for their Rhomp & Rhyme Storytime. This month’s theme was “Grow, Garden, Grow!” which was a perfect fit for intertwining my children’s book, “Exhale, Ella,” which focuses on a growth mindset. 🪴🌸🐘 From planting our own garden, singing songs, creating crafts, and reading many stories - it was so sweet to share such an important message with our community youth and bring positivity into the day of all those who attended. ✨ And - if you know me, you know I am a HUGE Taylor Swift fan.
