Each of Parlees Z-Zero models is made by hand in Beverly, MA, with custom geometry and layup schedules as dictated by the rider and their intended purpose with the bike. This past week while visiting @parleecycles to collect a recently finished Z-Zero XD frame we were able to catch a glimpse into their production process. Made to order by hand right in nearby Beverly, MA, Parlee has been producing USA made carbon frames for over 20 years! In addition to constructing each of their Z-Zero models in house, the facility is also home to the #parleepaintlab where any of their frames can custom finished with even the most ambitious paint schemes. Unlike Geoff’s @scarabcycles from our previous post, this mountain bike was never treated with any protective coating. Not only does its matte finish want to hold onto dirt, but as many of you already know the dirt in the northeast can be quite tenacious. This is due to its acidity, and to get it truly clean you’ll need to use a high pH cleaner. As you swipe through these slides, you see the bike as it arrived in the shop, and after it was cleaned with a popular pink perfumed cleaner. Keep scrolling and you’ll see the @bicyclearmor Dirt Destroyer soap cut straight through the film left behind after “cleaning”.
