Our beloved girl Pearl, one of our foundation ewes from @wingandaprayerfarm gave us triplet ram lambs yesterday! Out of all of our ewes, she is best suited to handle triplets as she is a phenomenal mom. From this lambing, we also learned that our white ram Irv from @oldhomecrawfordfarm does not carry the white pattern on both alleles! If he had, all of Pearl's lambs would have been white, but we have a lovely mix of white, grey katmoget and a black gulmoget, so fun! I haven't yet had a chance to post pictures for all of our new lambs yet, but the current count is 12 rams, 4 ewes, and we're not quite done. It's been a heavy ram year, and we have a number of clients who have requested ewe lambs that will unfortunately not be able to get them from us, at least this year. Among them, the Carlo Abate statue is an absolute must-see! This monument honors Carlo Abate, an Italian immigrant who arrived in VT in 1896. Known as "the embodiment of the Italian immigrant in Barre," Abate was a skilled sculptor. By his passing in 1941 at 81, he was revered as one of Barre's leading sculptors. He also taught drafting at the Barre Evening Drawing School, shaping the future of many young locals in the granite industry. Crafted from a 30-ton block of Barre's finest gray granite, the sculpting process began at a saw plant. Abate chiseled away stone to form the rough outline. The finished eight-ton statue was placed in Dente Park, a tribute to Italian pride in the heart of the community where many Italian immigrants settled. POW had been working on this legislation for close to two years. And, with its introduction, became a monumental moment for the organization. The Northeast Kingdom of Vermont is not necessarily known for stately houses, but no matter where you go in New England, you can always find interesting old buildings. This is the Cobb-Foster House of Derby Line, Vermont. The house was built in 1861 for Walter B. Cobb, a director of the Peopleโs Bank of Derby Line. After later owners bought and sold the property in quick succession, the house was purchased by Stephen A. Foster, a lawyer and judge who would eventually move out of town, selling the property to Austin Theophilius Foster, a nephew.
