It’s second weekend in a raw racing for @biddi_theunissen We are wishing you good luck for Triathlon World Cup in Chengdu China. Last weekend Biddi raced World Cup in Wollongong Australia. It was quite an adventure after getting visa only on Tuesday 2am and on the flight Tuesday 8am with race early Saturday. But Biddi raced like a champ and finished 26th “racing a World Cup is always really intense. It’s been a while since I’ve raced overseas, but I managed to pull together a good swim and bike, coming off with the front group. The 2023 - 2024 Queensland Triathlon season closed off today with the Auswide Bank Sprint Triathlon at Bargara, hosted by @bargaratriclub, who did a wonderful job delivering a quality event. DRP Athlete @megannrusssell finished off the season in style, with the 6th fastest time of all women on the day (including the 2nd fastest bike leg by a mere 6 seconds). More notably though, Megan took 2nd place in the 16-17 years category, earning her enough points in the Triathlon Queensland State Series to cement her placing at the top of the leaderboard and claim the overall title! Last week, my flight home got cancelled, and I got an extra 2 days in LA. I decided to get a bike and cycle from Long Beach to Huntington Beach, and there I discovered the San Gabriel River Trail, which is 38 miles starting from Seal Beach. So, I already knew what I was doing the next day! What an adventure! The cycle was quite easy as it was mostly flat until I got to the last 20 km. I love that all the cyclists were greeting each other and smiling at me. Now, I left at 9 am and I took one wrong turn and ended up at Coyote Creek, so I had to add extra miles to get back on the trail, which then made me have less break than I wanted to make sure I come back to Long Beach before the sunset as I didn’t have any lights on my bike. This isn’t my longest bike ride ever. This used to be kind of my job before BA, and I used to do 90 km a day on average, but this was definitely my longest cycle with almost no breaks. De-load week, as we edge closer to #im703cairns. A lighter week of training, whilst keeping the intensity, had a 25% decrease in the total load. I was able to take the time to appreciate and enjoy my training environment. Another goal completed, a 2km (well 1998m) open water swim in a wetsuit at Lake Eacham with @swimfit.with.coach.irene , followed by a 6km run. Finishing off the week with a 2nd place at Cairns Cycling Club criterium in wet conditions. The Scott Foil handled the wet conditions brilliantly. Specifiek dit jaar voor Kees Janssen, die lijdt aan een zeldzame vorm van schildklierkanker. Zijn grootste uitdaging is twintig kilometer rennen met een krom gestel. Das Format mit Vorläufen, Semi- und Halbfinale machte es besonders spannend. *DUO-TRAINING-WITH-SOME-WIND* De eerste koppeltraining van dit jaar met als kadootje....heeeel veeeel wind (tegen). Heel veel zuur de benen in bij het fietsen en beuken tegen de wind in, dat viel niet mee maar compensatie natuurlijk bij windmee! De overgang naar lopen voelde nog even wankel, met spagettibenen de eerste kilometer door gestrompeld maar daarna toch lekker draad kunnen oppakken en nog kunnen aanzetten! Nachdem es unter der Woche ziemlich kalt im Wasser war (18,5°C) habe ich mal meinen alten Neoprenanzug rausgekramt. Dazu noch ein Foto von 1997. Damals war das gute Stück nigelnagelneu. Das Foto ist vor dem Ironman in Roth aufgenommen worden. Man beachte die Aufreihung der schönen blauen Dixi Klos im Hintergrund.
