🌹 Summer Roses in a Pitcher I started with an old, wood cabinet door. Painted it white, this way and that, to create texture. Added a distressed table then a barnwood plank wood wall. Sanded for a little instant age. 🌹 A simple white pitcher, shaded in grey was topped with a spray of rose toile. Hand printed wrapping paper! My small human helped me print wrapping paper for his present for grandma. He inked the brayer, I stamped the image ❤️. The paper is plain butcher paper. ⭐️ A little tidbit about me: I worked at @potterybarn when I was in college. I had dark pink massive curls that I glittered up every holiday season💗. Among the many tips I learned and remember was to always light a candle for a few minutes before displaying it. The reason for doing it in the store was it makes it look like somebody is home. At home, it helps you to use them. If you leave those pristine taper candles unlit, you are less likely to use them. That initial lighting encourages you to light them again! I finally found 10 dripless 10inch white tapers. Today I lit them and let them burn for about 20 minutes. 💜Silver. 💜 Everybody loves it but who loves to polish it? 🙋🏻♀️-I do! I find it’s very soothing to polish it and I get very into making sure every darn bit of tarnish is gone! But some pieces have almost killed me, so much polishing! So I researched and tried it a another way to remove tarnish. With the holidays coming I thought I’d share how I get my pieces ready. 1. Find a large pot that isn’t your favorite. You know the one way back in the cabinet you’ve had since your first born made play dough in it? That one.😊 2. Line the bottom with tin foil and fill the pot with water about 1/2 to 2/3 full. 3. Boil. 4. Drop your piece of silver in, carefully! And shake a generous amount of baking soda over it. The water will bubble up with the addition of the baking soda. 5. Depending on the piece, I use rubber tongs to turn it over, make sure it’s all in the water. If needed I sprinkle more baking soda. 6. For heavily tarnished pieces, I leave them in about 5 minutes. Then I remove them, let them cool and rinse them in clean water. Dry throughly. Sometimes I need to still use a bit of silver polishing cream, but it comes off sooooo much easier after boiling with the baking soda. This little bit of old fashioned silver polishing wisdom has been a game changer! This cute little sugar and creamer set were black and look at them now! So shiny! I boiled them while I cleaned the kitchen counters this morning- easy peasy! These two cuties will not being going in the Duchess booth, sorry! 😊 They are going to have fresh springs of boxwood in them for the holidays. It’s the night before #yorktownday2019. 😁 And all through the house, there are packed totes and wood signs everywhere, there’s no room for a 🐁 mouse! This tote was labeled months ago as I prepped items and tucked them away just for tomorrow! In a few minutes, I’ll make my green tea, assemble the caprese sandwiches and wrap up the essential chocolate chip cookies. Cookies are absolutely necessary for energy to get through the day. 🍪 My dress is picked out and comfy boots are ready by the door.
