Die (Vor-)Weihnachtszeit als Mama gehört definitiv zu den Dingen, die ich mir anders vorstellte, als ich noch keine Kinder hatte. Klar. Es war ab dem 01. Dezember richtig toll jeden Morgen in die aufgeregten Augen der großen Maus vorm Adventskalender zu schauen. Und direkt im Anschluss kam jeden die Frage auf was unser Wichtel wohl heute Nacht wieder für einen Quatsch gemacht hat. Die große Maus war dieses Jahr auch das erste Mal richtig aufgeregt vor Heiligabend und das war wirklich zuckersüß und wunderschön. Aber dennoch sag ich es wie es ist: Die Adventszeit war, neben all den schönen Momenten, unglaublich stressig und anstrengend. Es musste so viel besorgt werden, ständig war hier jemand krank (jaa ich weiß. Das ist das Weihnachtsfest nicht schuld. Aber das hat es trotzdem nochmal anstrengender gemacht), Plätzchen backen, Wichtelzauber überlegen, Geschenke einpacken, möglichst nichts vergessen… Mein Highlight ist immernoch das gemeinsame Weihnachtsbaumschmücken 🙈 Mit Baby und 3 1/2-jährigem Kind, das immernoch heftig in der Autonomiephase steckt, ist das (zumindest bei uns 😅) eine Aktion gewesen, die auch nur auf dem Papier zauberhaft klingt. 😂 Aber ich wäre nicht ich, wenn ich nicht dennoch das Schöne aus diesen Momenten mitnehmen würde. Ich liebe Weihnachten und die Adventszeit. Als Kind gab es für mich keine schönere Zeit im Jahr und ich habe alles daran geliebt. In diesem Jahr konnte ich die Vorweihnachtszeit nicht wirklich genießen. Aber wisst ihr was? Das ist ok für mich. Denn das Wichtigste ist, dass meine Kinder in dieser Zeit den Zauber spüren. Und die Vorfreude. Und wir die Weihnachtszeit für sie zu einer ganz besonderen Zeit im Jahr machen. Und wahrscheinlich ging es unserer Mutter früher genauso, um für uns diese Zeit so magisch wie möglich zu gestalten, obwohl all das drumherum so stressig war. Für uns war diese Zeit als Kinder aber wunderschön und ganz besonders, weil sie sie für uns zur zauberhaftesten Zeit des Jahres gemacht hat. Und ich wünsche mir sehr und gebe mir alle Mühe, dass meine Kinder irgendwann genauso empfinden ❤️ Wie erging es dir dieses Jahr in der Advents- und Vorweihnachtszeit? #mamaseinisttoll

It has been a very busy holiday season for me. Work, war, wrapping things up, my end of year work, prep for new year work, selling a boat, buying a house, cleaning to show to sale (with pets), cleaning and packing, a lot of business, arrangements for one short term place in-between the two long terms, travels. It’s been a lot. And all good, but honestly, when I’m asked if I’m excited I can only gasp for breath. I haven’t had time for excitement. However, I did still manage some time to slow down and not forget the most magical time of the year. Because I know that if I didn’t I would regret it. I also know that if I did I would have joy that I needed. I went and sought out all the things that make me smile. I sat in my best of life memories. I walked among lights and among the dreams for future holidays (ummm, first of all, Christmas tree in every single room). I savored tastes of only the holidays. And I truly held the joy I felt in embrace. Life isn’t convenient. But it is magical, the magic is there, the magic remains…it’s only us who choose to see or to not see it. Or to appreciate it or not appreciate it. It might not be the norm or grand or “enough” or the usual amounts of it we may be used to…but it is there. The magic of the season. I choose never to ignore it, even when life happens around it.
