Who fancies a summer red? 🍷 Hentley Farm The Marl Grenache/ Country-Australia🇦🇺/Region- Barossa Valley/Grape-Grenache🍇/Vintage - 2018/ABV - 14.3%/£16.99 from independents. Mine was from my local retailer Banstead Vintners. Grenache is often blended with its weightier friends Syrah and Mourvèdre (or perhaps I should say Shiraz and Mataro as we are talking Australia here!) so is often associated with a more ‘heavy’ red however on its own as beautifully demonstrated here it can actually produce a wonderfully soft, lighter and very fruit driven wine. On the nose there are strawberries, red cherries, raspberries and white pepper which follows through on the palate with the addition of more red fruit, leather, a touch of tobacco and some earthiness. The finish is surprisingly long with some obvious but not overpowering tannins and very balanced feel. Can be served slightly chilled for the optimal summer vibe!
