This afternoon was the @davesrunning Polar Paws and Santa Claws 5k at the @thetoledozoo and it was my third year doing this one! I love this run! It was cloudy and a little chilly but was great for running! It's a nice run through neighborhoods and finishing through the zoo! I was so happy that this year no one walked in front of me while I was running in the zoo! So no worries of falling! It was really great this year ro do this one with so many of my amazing friends in our incredible running community! That makes it even better! This is one of my favorite holiday runs! Maeve starts back at school tomorrow and I realize I hardly posted at all this summer. It was a pretty busy summer even though we didn’t do much traveling. Between raising our new chicks, a sick kitty we we lost about a month ago after a 6 week illness, and both Maeve and I getting sick and different times, there’s wasn’t much opportunity for travel. We did make it to Ohio to visit my family last weekend. We visited @thetoledozoo while we were there and it was so wonderful to be back where I began my zoo keeping career so many years ago. I even got to see 2 gorillas who I worked with as an intern 20 some years ago. It was also a summer of trying to be more present, to not think about what things may look like as an Instagram post, and to take photos solely for our memories and not to necessarily share. Overall, it was a summer with some challenges, some sadness, a lot of beautiful moments, and very special memories.
