"We lost our beautiful cockapoo, Teddy, in January 2023, and I honestly didn't think I could ever love another dog in quite the same way. I knew I wanted another dog and that, this time, it had to be a rescue. I set about registering with lots of shelters in the South East (I live in London) but without any success. One of my best friends had just adopted Dottie (December 2022) from Street Hearts BG and I was so enamoured by her - she's the most smashing dog – that the penny dropped. Today, April 29, marks World Wish Day and the anniversary of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. According to Make-A-Wish Colorado, they have granted over 6,000 Wishes for children with critical illnesses but there are still over 450 children in Colorado who are waiting to get their Wish granted. Also, according to the Wish Impact Study, 75% of medical providers included in the study said that a Wish helped improve a child’s medical outcome. In support, members of the Make-A-Wish Colorado Youth Leadership Council are dedicating this World Wish Day to a seven-year-old from Denver, Colorado named Foster who is battling cancer. Foster’s wish is to go to Disney World to meet Darth Vader. Being a parent of one child, I can see how parent of multiple children can be spending upwards of $2000 a year on clothing alone.
