What an incredible week filled with amazing Kindred Youth! 🌟 🌍On Tuesday, we continued our #Kindred #WellnessOasis Series at Wells with @chicagocyc focusing on arts and wellness for 3rd-8th graders. We celebrated #EarthDay by reimagining a new Earth together! 🦚Wednesday marked the launch of our 6-week series at @west40isc Safe School, called S.E.A.R.C.H Xpress for middle and high school students. We kicked off by establishing community agreements and crafting empowering "I am" poems. 💜✌🏼And on #Friday, @praxisinstchicago led the 3rd session of #TogetherTowardsPeace with students from Baker College Prep and Highland Park High School. We discussed gun violence with elected officials, dove into group projects, and began our journey of artivism, op-eds, podcasts, and social media projects. Welcome to the official Instagram page for “Together Towards Peace.” This initiative is put together by The Praxis Institute, which is a versatile and multicultural team with years of experience and life lessons from working with the not for profit sector, government, academia, schools, and community based organizations. • Praxis works with partners who are justice oriented and committed to high quality youth programming. Their hands-on approach is inclusive of all stakeholders and is grounded in the application of anti-racist, healing-centered, research based and participatory engagement strategies. • The Praxis team is partnering with Vivo Foundation to develop “Together Towards Peace: Empowering Youth to End Gun Violence.” With this project, Praxis Institute seeks funding to implement a transformative initiative, and aims to bring together 20-25 high school youth, ages 16-18 years old, from Baker College Prep, located in Chicago’s South Shore community, and the Highland Park school. • This initiative recognizes the urgent need to address the pervasive issue of gun violence by empowering youth to become catalysts for change within their communities. I’m lucky enough to be part of a very outspoken, powerful and diverse group of women. I still believe World Peace is possible. The group is reluctant and politically very divided. Here is one compromise I’m now suggesting. A yellow Peace Cruise for the people we agree as nice, tugging a red Love Boat with the people some of us consider very naughty. Many years ago I went to law school with Yasmine and her younger sister Bettina. Yasmine was about to graduate when we started. Writing her thesis on a typewriter...
