Adrian and Stu from Bournemouth South’s Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) has been on duty today as part of the #townteam in Bournemouth Town Centre. We have both undertaken #singlecrewed 🔥 hotspot foot patrols in Bournemouth Town Centre around several of our hot spot areas. Here is a snippet of the things we dealt with during patrol:- ➡️ Dealt with a male who was in breach of his Anti-Social Behaviour Injunction (ASBI) and he will find himself in court shortly - these are designed to prevent individuals getting involved in crime and ASB and are a powerful tool that we can use. This ➡️ Spoke with several businesses in Old Christchurch Road to ensure they had not had any issues and check their staff were OK. Recent national figures on retail crime shows the importance of working with our businesses and the wider Town Team model is working in partnership to tackle these issues. ➡️ Liaised with the team at St Peters Church this morning and had a nice chat about the Bluebells and flowers coming through. ➡️ Dealt with a male for riding his moped up Old Christchurch Road. It is a pedestrian zone, not a road and in the interests of safety we will deal robustly with people we find taking short cuts across pedestrian areas. It is probably a good point to mention the road closures that come in to force at night around Horseshoe Common and Fir Vale Road – do not drive through them after the closure period as you will be liable for prosecution; these are there to make the area safer at night-time for pedestrians. ➡️ Assisted officers from Bournemouth C squad with the arrest of 2 people for assault and possession of drugs. Thanks to the #BournemouthBID Rangers for their help during this matter as well. ➡️ Dealt with several individuals for parking issues including a couple of coaches on Westover Road. Sophie from Bournemouth South’s Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) has been on late shifts today. She has undertaken single crewed #hotspot foot patrols in Bournemouth Town Centre. A few of the things she has dealt with during patrols this evening:- ✅ Spoke with a male who has previously been the victim of cuckooing and domestic violence, to check he was okay and didn’t need any support from Police this evening ✅ Liaised with businesses in the Triangle, a particular focus on those who support the LGBTQ+ community. This provides an opportunity to ask any questions of the Police and we can provide support where it is needed. ✅ Spoke to lots of lovely members of the public and obtained some useful intelligence that will very much help direct future patrols ✅ Moved a persistent beggar on from outside the BH2 complex Whilst we appreciate this obtains mixed reviews from the public, it’s important to understand, particularly at the weekend, individuals who are housed and live out of area will come to the town to beg in this way. Police will ALWAYS signpost people to support where it is needed. Unfortunately, sometimes their situation isn’t always as it appears. The public will routinely see Police officers on foot patrols at our current hotspots as per our data. This data comes directly from public contact data. Which is why reporting is so crucial to problem solving. These patrols are designed to reduce violent crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB) and increase public confidence. A few weeks ago, our Chief Constable Amanda Pearson, joined the Bournemouth South Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) and Bournemouth Neighbourhood Enforcement Team (NET) at Bournemouth South for a shift. The chief accompanied Officers to some of our safe and well checks in the town centre. This involves Police Officers visiting vulnerable members of our community to prevent and disrupt cuckooing. The Chief got involved in some hotspot patrols. Alongside some high visibility foot patrols and visiting some of our business community here in the town. Valuable community intelligence obtained. 👍 PC Stuart Grant from NPT arrested a priority target nominal for vehicle interference in a car park 👍 The NET achieved the positive arrest of a street dealer in possession of heroin 👍 Sgt Mark White from NPT arrested a man wanted on prison recall A fantastic opportunity for our Bournemouth Town Centre teams to showcase the excellent work ongoing by the committed teams working here. There are a number of hotspots in Bournemouth Town Centre and the public will routinely see Officers on foot patrols at these locations. This puts our assets in the right places to deal at source with issues. The hotspots have been identified from public contact data. This highlights the importance of reporting issues to us. Our aim is to reduce crime and anti social behaviour (ASB) and increase public confidence. We work closely with our partner agencies in the locale as part of the #TownTeam a multi agency approach to longer term problem solving and improving the town centre of Bournemouth.
