Meet Rayann & Reid Yamasaki! This sister/brother duo can be found on the preschool side of Calvary Kids, usually serving at the 10:30 service! Rayann serves in the 3s & 4s classroom, helping with the lesson and game, making sure each preschooler is having a fun, Jesus-filled Sunday! Reid serves in the nursery, often snuggling little ones through tears. He can be counted on to quietly comfort a baby an entire service, without a single complaint. Thank you for serving you two! Bud is the transportation coordinator for our co-sponsorship team in Dover, Delaware—helping families like Darwin and Chadia’s. Darwin, a father of three boys, along with his wife, Mariana, and sons, fled Venezuela seeking safety and stability. Chadia, a single mom of two girls, escaped hardship in Honduras to build a better future. The transportation team, led by Bud, tackles the monumental task of ensuring families can access essential services. They facilitate transportation to and from work, school, medical appointments, and church services, providing a lifeline for families adjusting to their new lives. Thanks to the support of Bud and our dedicated volunteers, Darwin, Mariana, Chadia, and their children have secured employment, obtained essential documents like driver's licenses, and accessed benefits and childcare services—empowering them to become self-sufficient and thrive. Did you know that it’s National Volunteer Week?! Volunteers are a massive part of why our sport runs the way it does, so if you’ve got some extra time this season, make sure you sign up to volunteer at a local event. And make sure when you’re competing you thank a volunteer!! Fun Fact: I was a Top 10 USEA Volunteer for the year 2017 or 2018! (I can’t remember which year because my dog chewed off part of the prize ribbon I got that included the year 😅😂) I put in over 200 hours that year as a volunteer and had sooo much fun helping events be successful.
Five years ago, Tom started mentoring a young man from Haiti. The man didn’t speak much English. And Tom didn’t speak any French Creole. Yet they’re still together in a mentoring relationship to this day. We’re grateful for people like Tom this National Volunteer Week. He has fostered incredible relationships with young men new to the U.S. and continues to help them navigate the ups and downs in their journeys. “Like me, you may not be an award-winning expert in cultural competency—and that’s okay. You don’t need to be. Bethany has a team of experts ready to support you. Expect your heart to be forever changed.” P.S. Tom has recently been blessed with another mentor-mentee relationship with a young man from Honduras. Go, Tom! 🤍

Kevin and his father and daughter began volunteering with Bethany in the summer of 2023. They recognized that immigrants coming to the U.S. needed assistance getting settled and acclimated to their new lives. They started co-sponsoring immigrants in the Memphis, Tennessee area. They set up homes, welcomed families at the airport, went grocery shopping with them, and even taught them how to mow a lawn! On this last day of National Volunteer Week, we extend our heartfelt thanks to every one of our volunteers. The theme this year is “Every Moment Matters”, and we think this holds especially true for the work we do here at SCS. Their ‘moments’ added together is an invaluable sum. Their ‘moments’ provide tangible services, like transportation, and meals delivered; policies written, and telephone calls answered. But more importantly, their ‘moments’ provide the intangibles that lighten lives and provide hope, dignity and joy. They are part of the peace of mind for hundreds of people in this community, and by extension, their families who want them to live well, while living independently. The team we have here at SCS is full of dynamic, creative, compassionate people who take action. 💕Happy National Volunteer Week! Please help us send a BIG thank you to all of the volunteers who make the work of Pug Rescue of Florida & Georgia possible! We have been saving pugs for 21 years and for all of those years, we have had NO paid staff and NO shelter facility. We rely on our amazing volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to foster, transport, process applications, take dogs to vets & specialists, make phone calls & send emails, organize events, raise funds, buy & distribute supplies, and so much more. Volunteering for rescue is a labor of love and it truly is a FAMILY commitment. The majority of our volunteers have full-time jobs, spouses/children and their own pets, yet they continue to put the rescue pugs' needs above their own. They work tirelessly around the clock, just to make a difference in the lives of these innocent pugs. We couldn't do what we do without these very special people and their families who support them. Meet Nicole Fisher🌟 Around RRA we like to refer her as our commissioner extraordinaire! Nicole has been the commissioner for the U12, U14, and U16 divisions over the years and this year she put in sooooo many hours taking care of BOTH U14 AND U16! Its a big job and we appreciate everything she does. When she's not cheering her daughters on at lacrosse and ringette she's often seen volunteering at our tournaments, provincials, city championships. Last year when we hosted the Canadian Ringette Championships in Regina she put in countless hours volunteering to make sure the event was a success. April 14th-20th is National Volunteer week 🥳 In honor of this special week we would like to highlight some of the special people behind the scenes that put in countless hours making our association and our sport so great! Meet Kim Byrns & Neil Stang🌟 Kim and Neil are both current RRA board members, Kim serves as our Registrar and Neil is our Director of Equipment but that's far from all they have done over the years! Neil has been in his position, which includes running the shot clock and scorekeeper training for the past 6 years. Prior to that he served as the U12 commissioner and before that her served as RRA's liaison with ROAR. You've likely seen Neil running the shot clock at numerous RRA tournaments, provincials and City Championships over the years as well. Kim has been in her position as Registrar for the past 2.5 years. She's also a member of our marketing committee and handles lots of the communications for the association. She was a member of the Host Committee for the 2022 Western Canadian Ringette Championships in Regina handling merch, the website and social media. Kim has also volunteered as a team managers for her daughters' teams over the years and she was a stats volunteer at the Canadian Ringette Championships in Regina back in 2014. If all of that wasn't already enough Kim and Neil both served on the 2023 Canadian Ringette Championships committee when it was held in Regina last year. They also do tons of volunteering at Saskatchewan NRL hub weekends and while travelling to cheer on their daughter in Nationals they have volunteered at CRC's in Alberta, New Brunswick and PEI. Without people like Kim and Neil our sport and our association wouldn't be what it is today. This past year Cindy was elected to the RRA board is currently serving as the Director of Children's Ringette, a large part of that job includes planning and running the Children's Jamboree (Tournament).
