The second year of our Clapdale Wool project we were able to increase the number of farms we worked with. Collecting a much larger volume than year one, jumping from 500kg to 3 tonnes. British Wool helped us sort and grade the raw fleeces. Det är ju ull trots allt. På Båtmässan träffade vi på Jan-Peter vars fru använde merinoull i många av sina plagg. J-P däremot berättade att han var superkänslig och att han livet igenom hållit sig borta från allt vad ull heter. Fritjof blev så triggad av detta att han beslöt sig för att ge J-P en Merino-T mot löfte om att han skulle ge ullen en ny chans. Tidigt morgonen därpå plingar det till i Fritjofs inkorg. Det är från J-P: ”Denna T-shirt kliar inte. Hela livet har jag haft besvär med att välja kläder utan ull. Måste alltid kontrollera märkningen noga. Även en toppluva med polyester kliar. Under åren har jag hittat några få toppluvor i bomull som inte kliar. Det finns bland annat en tjej i Åre ”Kicki” som har gjort färgglade toppluvor i bomull. Hon har en märklapp med ”K”. The first step in creating our traceable Clapdale wool is the sheep. We use all the breeds on the fields around our warehouse - Dalesbred, Mules, Texel, Blue Faced Leicester. We want Clapdale Wool to represent this area which is why we’ve included all the breeds, even some that aren’t usually associated with knitting wool. It's the equivalent of us Welshies' Valentines day today, and we've spent the morning working sheep- pregnancy scanning the last 3 bunches of ewes, courtesy of @mathewjames3055. 💞 My lovely Coloured Mule ewe Lion wasn't up for posing much today, she clearly didn't want to show off her mane in such miserable weather, can't blame her really. 😂 She's expecting twins this year. 🐑 Mini Shepherdess #2 had an absolute blast as per. #1 helped cross sheep across the road before she even went to school this morning, and will be eager to know the results of her little flock of Black Welsh Mountains when she arrives home. 🐶 Old girl Mollie also had an absolute blast too, no doubt we'll barely see her tomorrow as she'll be so tired & stiff, curled up nice & warm in a shed, can't blame her either, but it was her choice to come & do some work today. 🤷🏻♀️ She may be 14+ years old, as deaf as a post now, missing some teeth, but she still LOVES working sheep, and will run around as if she's still a young dog, bless her (she needs a bit of a hand with jumping up these days, she tries and then gives us the eyes 🥺 to help her 🤣).
