It’s the annual Folk Festival this weekend in Todmorden. There will be lots of really interesting events going on throughout the town at various different venues and outside throughout the whole weekend. I will be opening up my studio to the general public on Sunday 5th May in the afternoon from 1 pm till 4 pm I’ll have a selection of Willow pieces for sale and I’m also using it as an excuse to have a major clear out! I continued my little straw project last night, as a straw splitter had arrived from Elaine, @somethingcornystraw and I wanted to try it out straight away. It's such a simple tool (swipe to see it in action), but it sped up my work immensely! It's also very satisfying to see the pile of straw strands rapidly growing, all so even and ready for use. I think I will let Wren (my six year old daughter), have a go today, because it's just the sort of task that she would love! I started a new sample with the freshly split straw, using a core of Phormium fibre this time, because I think it shapes better than a straw core, particularly on this scale. I'm going to work this sample up some more before making a start on May's work. Can you believe it's May already?
