Tijdens onze reis komen we in ontelbare verschillende accomodaties. Sommige top of the bill, sommige.....iets minder. Door de afwisseling van jungle en stad in Borneo, zitten er grote verschillen tussen de plekken waar wij ons hoofd laten rusten. Van back to basic aan de rivier met alleen een "ranzig" matrasje en klamboe in een open schuurtje, naar een 18 hoog apartement met twee badkamers en twee kingsize bedden. Ook hebben we de fijne middenmoot gehad met een lodge in de jungle met in ieder geval eigen badkamer en airco. Zoals je leest....enige aanpassingsvermogen is dus wel handig op reis. . . Finalmente escursione di 3 giorni nella jungla del borneo malese. Esperienza pazzesca: la foresta parla, c'è un gran rumore, sia di giorno che di notte. Abbiamo dormito nelle baracche di legno per terra praticamente all'aperto, senza acqua corrente (solo quella del fiume). Umidità pazzesca, vegetazione a foglie larghe, pozze d'acqua ferma, scarafaggi, animali ecc. 📍Jing Wood cafe MYY 1st pic: Pork gyoza (From a stall selling typical China food) 9/10👍🏻✨ This is one of my favourite place to get gyoza in Miri, used to be only rm1 per piece, satisfying amount of filling and crispy. But I guess due to bad economy, they have increased their price by few cents per piece, and the fillings did become lesser 🥲 or else I would have given it 9.8/10✨✨ But I would still go there often to get my gyoza cravings satisfied 🤤 2nd pic: Chives gyoza 8.5/10👍🏻✨ Honestly it's not bad, but for the same price, I'd rather get pork than chives hahaha but this is great too and very juicy 😋 3rd pic: Uncle Tan's prawn chee cheong fan 9/10👍🏻✨ Also a must to eat whenever I go to Jing wood. I sat behind Uncle's Tan old Kembara car, amazed by his stories. Here is a man who owns a successful Kopitiam (Ah Meng Kopitiam) in Kuala Pilah yet there wasn't an ounce of pomp or grandeur in him. He spoke about his life events with such grace and humility. After dedicating 21 years of his life to humanitarian efforts, I think he was glad to see the younger generations follow suit. Went back to Uncle Tan’s barber with @goodlucksketches very early in the morning because today is his last day working there before he retires. . My first sketch (in small sketchbook) of him keeping some of his tools into his bag before first customer arrived. I did a quick sketch with a bittersweet feeling because I can tell that he can’t bear to leave the place, after 28 years working there. . I did the second sketch (in A5 sketchbook) of him cutting hair for second customer while first customer was waiting for him. I took some time sketching the scene untill my back couldn’t take it, so I painted it at home. .
