Depending on the country and current climate, consider the best time to work on your hives. In Italy, for example, May and June are optimal. Having new frames means keeping the bees healthy, avoiding potential diseases. Additionally, by taking care of this task, we prevent the bees from wasting time renewing old frames instead of focusing on more productive activities. 2) Remember to pay special attention to swarming and manage the placement of honey supers. These two events are important both for the bees' need for space and to prevent the spread of varroa. It's essential to manage the situation carefully, avoiding destroying queen cells unless strictly necessary for swarm control. Otherwise, strong colonies can be divided to create new nuclei. Die #Honigbiene und auch alle Wildbienen reagieren immer empfindlicher auf die zunehmenden Belastungen, z.B. durch Spritzmittel in der #Landwirtschaft. Das führt nicht selten zum Verlust ganzer Populationen. Auch die #Varroa-Milbe trägt ihren Anteil an Verlusten bei den Bienenvölkern im Landkreis. Aber Wildbienen, wie die #Mauerbienen oder die #Hummeln, haben keine Varroa und ihre Bestände gehen trotzdem stark zurück. In Deutschland gibt es ca. 555 Wildbienenarten, von denen nur 205 als nicht gefährdet gelten. Für den BUND Naturschutz erklärt Daniela Ehm am #Lehrbienenstand in #Marktl welchen Gefahren die "Arbeitstiere der Bestäubung" ausgesetzt sind. Wie den Bienen und Wildbienen und damit dem Ökosystem als Grundlage unserer #Nahrungsmittelproduktion geholfen werden kann, zeigt sie anschaulich auf. Aujourd'hui, je suis allé visiter mes abeilles pour voir comment elles allaient après la période de froid de ces dernières semaines. Tout va bien. Les colonies se développent bien (des plaques de couvain impressionantes). Elles ont toutes des réserves de nourriture. Elles rentrent du pollen à foison. Pas de signes d'essaimage pour le moment (mais j'ai mis mon kit essaimage dans les sacoches de mon vélo). Par contre pas de miel de printemps cette année. Les grandes sources de nectar commencent à décliner et ce qu'elles ramènent, elles le consomment (eh oui, tout ce couvain, ça veut dire des bouches à nourir). COTTIER À VIVRE - Triste journée 😞 Nos cinq colonies d’abeilles sont toutes mortes. J’étais pourtant confiante fin février, après avoir vu les abeilles voler aux premiers redoux. Et puis, il y a quelques jours, lors de la visite de printemps, quelle ne fut pas ma surprise d’ouvrir les ruches les unes après les autres et de ne trouver pratiquement que du vide. Diagnostic probable: trop de varroas, les abeilles sont parties pour tenter de leur échapper, puis les ruches ont été pillées. En cause, certainement un traitement insuffisant. Alors au-delà de la tristesse c’est une grande remise en question. J’adore élever des abeilles. Je les admire et respecte. Et c’est ma responsabilité de les maintenir en bonne santé. Ma première réaction a donc été de tout abandonner. Mais j’aime le bruissement des colonies, le rythme et le calme qu’exige le travail auprès d’elles, l’odeur du miel… C’était difficile de renoncer. Modification d’une entrée de socle à scimitus pour ajouter un dispositif de comptage varroa. C’était mon tout premier socle réalisé à l’automne 2022, et je n’avais pas prévu à l’époque de dispositif pour compter les chutes de varroa. C’est maintenant chose faite. Pour rappel, depuis la saison 2023, j’ai 3 ruches tests équipés de sols vivants ensemencés avec un acarien, le Stratiolaelaps Scimitus, prédateur naturel du varroa. L’expérience est étendue à 6 ruches en 2024. Les ruches sur sols vivants ne reçoivent plus aucun traitement, tant acide que chimique, mais au contraire, disposent d’un traitement passif permanent, avec la présence de l’acarien Scimitus, qui peux vivre et prospérer dans le socle rempli de compost. Les abeilles adorent ces sols vivants sous la ruche. Nel complesso, con una conduzione a nido adattato non abbiamo mai avuto con loro "ansie" da sciamatura Parlare di produttività di miele sembra tristemente anacronistico, tuttavia in presenza di flussi la loro raccolta è nella buona media delle altre linee che riproduciamo. Varroosis, varroa parasite of the honeybee, both Asian and European (Apis cerana and APIs mellifera Commonly known as varroa destructor, it is the vector for virus in a honey bee colony. Destroying colonies is fruitless because the mite travels on both drone and worker bee (and queen), because drones travel between hives they become the transfer vector. So wild colonies as well as hives become infected. We have no other option but to use control methods to reduce the infestation.
