I am a Toy Store Owner so of course when I am in another state I will find the nearest locally owned Toy Store! Thanks @dbeartoys in Frederick, MD for the fun visit! I was actually on a mission to find some toys for hand therapy for my Mother in Law. During our visit she shared with me that she felt weak and was having dexterity trouble with her hands. We had the discussion about how if you continue to use your muscles in a certain way they will seem to keep working in that same manner. When you stop using your muscles in a certain way, they will essentially get tired and weak and will stop working the way you want them to. Well guess what we got at the toy store? FIDGETS!!! For years doctors, nurses and physical therapists have been “prescribing” balls to crunch those hand muscles to strengthen them. Well we have come a long way baby….. We now have so many more choices for manipulative hand therapy. We now have different textures and assorted density in the toys we choose. It is a very personal choice as to what feels right in your hand. It can be a trial and error process. What better way to figure out what feels right than visiting a local neighborhood toy store where they care about your play value and where they offer up samples out of a box so you can be sure you are picking out just the right ones that work for you. So I was working at the shop sorting boxes of some new merchandise after we closed. I just looked up for a minute and THIS was my view. I love my job SO MUCH! I have been working with a French vintner through my connections from the winery we have a few shares of that were left to me by my Aunt.
