Car update, had multiple issues with the carb playing up so I took it off and rebuild it and cleaned it all out to see if there was an issue with any jets being blocked causing it too splutter and die at high speed. Refitted the carb with a new carb flange and still the same issue. Then realised that there was no vacuum coming from the carb to the vacuum advance on the distributor. Decided to replace it with a 1.3 carb that was going to go on my old nova (pierburg 2e carb) Brought the new carb flange to fit this, to realise it was the wrong one for my inlet, luckily @luke_vdub_beckley had a mk2 polo inlet spare which is what we used to fit the new carb onto the car, with a little tuning and sorting out a few bits she seems to run, next on the list is to get a accelerator cable to fit and sort out a location for the vacuum to run too from the distributor Thank to all that have helped so far!!! #vw #vwderby #vwderbygls #vwderbymk1 #vw #volkswagen #slammed #tucked #fitment #explore #car #classiccars #retrocars #1970s #79vw #watercooledvw #mk1 polo #classicar #carrepair #carbs #carburetor #pierburg #pierburg2e

1996 Mexican Spec Volkswagen Derby - 40330J Hello friends. Have you seen one of these before? 1996 was the second year the Derby was sold in Mexico. The 1995 model was a SEAT Cordoba that was imported from Spain but by 1996 the car was made in Puebla Mexico but it was still made with Spanish parts. Under the hood is a 1.8L 4 cylinder engine putting out 90 hp. This is a 5 door model as they are were. The car has traveled 132,938 KM (82,603 Miles) so far. That is only about 3,000 miles per year. To be honest very few of these cars have survived. I don't see many for sale from these early models. The front seats have covers so I am not sure what they look like. I would guess they will need a bit of work. Notice this is a 1996 model that has no air bags. This is a European car and the US safety regulations were not complied with. If you have ever wanted a SEAT, this is your chance without having to bring it all the way from Spain. A tune up has been recently been done and the car is riding on new tires so it is ready to go. You also get a new battery so that is something you don't have to deal with. One more thing that is new is the clutch. With the low miles and new parts it will serve you well for years to come. If you have any specific questions about this car let me know and I will get them answered for you. The price is $5,200. Final shipping is in addition to this figure. Coupé steht im Französischen schlichtweg für „(ab-)geschnitten“ und bezog sich ursprünglich auf vierrädrige Kutschen, deren Kabine vom Steuermann quasi „abgeschnitten“ war – und zwar nicht nach hinten wie bei den späteren Kfz-Coupés, sondern nach vorne: Der Kutscher saß im Freien alleine getrennt von bzw. vor einer geschlossenen Kabine mit zwei Sitzplätzen für die Passagiere. Klappdachautos gibt es seit 1927, sie sind eine amerikanische Erfindung. Europas erstes Cabrio mit aufklappbarem Stahldach war der Peugeot Eclipse von 1934. @mercedesbenz fächerte für diese Klientel sein Angebot an offenen Modellen gründlich auf: Für die Baureihe 500K/540 K gab es vom Karosseriewerk Sindelfingen offene Versionen, die je nach Modifikation von A bis F durchdekliniert wurden. Dieses System wurde auch für Nachkriegsmodelle fortgeführt. Cabriolets stammten jetzt mehr und mehr von einer Coupé-Version ab - wie beim 220 S, dessen offene Variante Cabriolet A/C hieß, übrigens mit selbsttragender Karosserie. Mit 21.500 Mark war der Preis für beide Versionen gleich, überstieg aber den Preis der entsprechenden Limousine um 9.000 Mark. Volkswagen Derby (Facelift) "Doesn't mean it's going to be a good demolition derby choice. I bet that this would be squashed into a cube in seconds." The Derby nameplate was initially used for the booted saloon variant of the MK1 Polo between 1977-1981 in Europe. On the mid-90's, the nameplate was resurrected for usage on the rebadged SEAT Cordobas for the Mexican market from 1995-2008. Now, the MK3 Polo only came in 3 and 5-door hatchback forms, and for the saloon and estate variants, they resorted to get the Cordobas and give them some little changes to then put their emblems. In the first year, the Derby was just a Cordoba with VW badges and came assembled from Martorell, until 1996, when production for domestic units started at VW's Puebla plant. By 1998, the new Derby came and it was actually the Polo Classic made in Spain. On 2002, production of the MK3 Polo and the Classic variant ended in Europe, but continued on Argentina. It received a facelift on the 2006 model year, which is this one we have here. It stopped selling on Mexico in 2008 and was replaced by the sedan variant of the MK3 Gol. All Derbys use a 1.8L I4 coupled to only a 5-speed manual. A 2.0L I4 was also used from 2002-2003 on the Sportline trim. I wouldn't refer these as rare yet but i definetly don't see these commonly as other VW's, but the pre-facelift ones are a different story.
