Queen Mary's Dolls' House was created 100 years ago, in 1924 in a project lead by British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. It was intended as a gift for Queen Mary and contains work from over 1.500 artists, craftspeople and manufacturers of the early 20th century. Constructed as if a Royal Palace, this miniature palace features everything you could fine in one in the early 1900's in the scale of 1:12. From the King's sitting room, to the Royal Library, to the maids bedroom. Most everyday items were made my leading manufacturers of the time (The singer sewing machine is by Singer, the Rolls Royce is by Rolls Royce, the Hoover is by Hoover, all made to be in working condition) and the Library is filled with hand written books by leading authors, including Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. All the lamps work and the house has running water and working lifts. Naturally, as a Royal Palace, it needed (running) clocks as well. For most of these clocks their mechanisms were made by @cartier, with cases to the design of Lutyens himself,. In the Entrance hall stands a longcase clock made after his design. On the back, when opening the door, we see the mechanism signed 'Cartier, London' with two squares, one for winding and one for setting the hands. The next slide shows a miniature mantel clock, with mock pendulum. This particular one is from 1904, by C Golling from Vienna (the only clock not by Cartier), and belonged to George Duke of Cambridge who donated it to the Dolls's House in 1924. In the next slide it is shown in front of one of the mantel clocks in the Grand Reception, one of the State Rooms of Windsor Castle. Lastly, for scale, a Sunburst wall clock with the 'hand of god' for scale. 1924 marks the 100 year anniversary of Queen Mary's Dolls' House. A few selected items from the house are on display the whole year in the Waterloo Chamber, giving you the chance to see them up close. ロンドンに引っ越して1ヶ月。 パラっとした雨が多くて雨雲レーダーを見ながら外出したり 業スーや西友、成城石井的スーパーを順番に回って食材研究したり、日常を整えるためにいろいろトライ&エラー中🥕 円安でほぼ2倍に感じる物価に慣れない泣 息子は体力が有り余ってて、私もじっとしていられなくて 児童館（＝教会とChildren's Centerらしい）、託児所付きの英会話教室、図書館、🐿️や🦆に会える公園に行ってみたり ご近所を中心に開拓してちょっと平日の過ごし方が決まってきたような🫧 フレンドリーな人が多くて、もっと話せたら楽しくなるのになと感じる瞬間があって本当に悔しい。Wish Listはたくさんあるけどまずは英語力をアップしたい…！ #新生活

This statue was erected on the 29th April 1872 in the Victoria Gardens, now known as the Rani Bagh, in Mumbai, India. The statue was designed by the British sculptor Matthew Noble and was commissioned by the Maharajah Khanderao Gaikw or Baroda. The statue was unveiled by the then Governor on the 29th April 1872 and represents the Queen as seated in the House of Lords. The Queen wears a diadem and holds a sceptre in her right hand and is seated under a marble canopy. In 1965 this statue along with statues of other foreign sovereigns and administrators were removed from public sites and kept indoors, mostly within government buildings. This statue however was moved back to the gardens of Bhau Daji Lad Museum, its initial home. The statue is now broken up into two separate pieces, the canopy for the statue now resides in the gardens of the Singhanian family bungalow and the statue is kept at the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum but is in a rather sorry state.

Und genau diese jahrhundertelange Verbindung zwischen Gotha und dem englischen Königshaus wird auf Schloss Friedenstein in Gotha, das heute als Museum, Staatsarchiv und Bibliothek genutzt wird, dokumentiert und thematisiert. Das Schloss ließ Herzog Ernst der Fromme 1643 an der Stelle der zuvor völlig zerstörten Burg „Grimmenstein“ errichten. Der Name „Friedenstein“ nimmt hierbei Bezug auf die kurz zuvor begonnenen Friedensverhandlungen des Dreißigjährigen Krieges. Als Wohnsitz sowie Kultur-, Verwaltungs- und Wirtschaftszentrum eines Territorialstaates errichtet, thront dieses Bauwerk weithin sichtbar auf dem höchsten Punkt der Stadt. Das Schloss wurde als dreiflügeliger Komplex mit Corps de Logis symmetrisch um eine Längsachse errichtet.
