And just like that, an entire year has come and gone. It feels like it was just yesterday that we were anxiously waiting in the delivery room to find out if she was a boy or girl. Old scraggly trees seem to be the subject of a lot of art, including my own landscape work. There's something special about them. There's something profound about the way they've endured the extremes of nature; even after their death. This tree struck me by its beautiful form, like a dancer reaching backward, reaching behind with elegant arms toward the storm building behind it. Below it rises spring grasses and flowers, the annual bloom that awakens our spirit of renewal. I came across this classic view of the Tetons from the Snake River Overlook, very near to the location from which Ansel Adams captured his famous image.
