This soon-to-be new father takes his sentinel duty quite seriously. He’s been hanging closer to the nest the past couple of days, so I think the goslings are close to hatching. Very exciting times down at the pond. 😉 On my daily walks, I’ve watched this nesting pair since the goose started fashioning her nest in a stand of willows on an island in the pond just large enough for one goose abode. She spends all day on the eggs while he patrols the shoreline and the water around the island. I can’t wait to see how many goslings they hatch. Grizzlies are faced with many challenges, making it difficult for them to move through the landscape without conflicts due to humans and land development. While recreating or visiting/living in bear country, It’s important to do your part in helping keep bears wild. Properly store all food attractants, ethically observe grizzlies from at least 100 yards and always be aware of your surroundings, while having bear spray easily accessible.

Great Horned Owl mothers usually lay 2 or 3 eggs in their nests and sit on them for about 30 days. After the eggs hatch, the mother and the father will feed the baby owls for another four weeks - and those owlets need a lot of food! There’s days and then there’s DAYS. Every moment of every day while in the park you wonder what the day will bring and you hope for an incredible experience where you get to see something amazing. While every day in the park is amazing, and you see many beautiful things, not all days are like this one was. Having the experience of watching wolves on the snow covered landscape and being able to capture some incredible photos doesn’t happen very often. Most days when viewing wolves they are a very, very long distance away. Even on this day, they were over 125 yards, but the elements, (the temperature, the lighting) and everything else was perfect, so the photos turned out amazing. I included the second photo, which is the original photo before it was cropped, just so you could see the distance. This photo was taken with a 600mm lens.
